USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

Good point.

Also, sometimes, those kids might be official residents of another state than the one they attend their senior year of high school in. Maybe they're a military kid who has moved around several times in their life, but their official state of residence was the one from when they were a kid.

I remember a friend at my high school who said that he was nominated by a Senator several states over from where we were living at the time. He had just moved to my state midway through high school for his parents' military career, and was still a resident of the other state.
My oldest daughter received her AFA nomination from our congressman in TX and we lived in CA since we were a military family. She ultimately was his primary nominee and earned her appointment there. I’m sure there are plenty of times things happen like nominations from out of area nominations.

So I'm assuming I didnt make it to the USNA since they have until the 15th to tell me, and I haven't been called by my congress man yet. It's the 13th...
Guidance from USNA is goal is 15 April. Could go beyond that. Many MOCs don’t call. The goal is the 15th. Will all or some know by then? I don’t think so.

In prior years there have been mid May appointments.

In 1963 my dad was notified a week into plebe summer. That stuff doesn’t likely happen now. But, the point is Semper Gumby.

Ship’s schedule got moved to the left, and it’s cutting it pretty close… even if I get an appointment / NAPS offer I’m worried it’ll be too late that I won’t be able to make it work. I submitted everything in January in hopes this wouldn’t happen. At this point I’d have less than a month to get a replacement to the ship so I can leave, and if they don’t then I’d have to go underway & be unable to report to USNA/NAPS. I know this forum is mainly high schoolers but has else been in this position or have advice on what to do? Sponsor reached out to admissions multiple times & said I’d have a response by April 15. Just nervous with the timeline & how long it’d take to get orders out of here, check out, and be there in time before ship goes out that if I get accepted I may not be able to leave & have to decline the offer. If it’s a TD I’d at least like to know so myself and my command can stop stressing about how it’ll all work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated🙃😔
Don’t sweat the admin side or ship’s movement.

If you get a spot at either NAPS or USNA, your ship will cut orders no different from any PCS move.

The Navy will get you to either Newport or Annapolis in time. Keep your chain-of-command in the loop.

The Portal updated at Midnight last night:
Fully Qualified Offer of Appointment !!
Revisiting one of the 3 big Ivies today with an NROTC Scholarship offer. DS is on the fence.
I’m still rooting for USNA (and trying to keep my mouth shut) but I think the allure of the Ivies may win out.
Believe it or not, he says the civilian schools have shown more love and he wants to go where he’s wanted. If this offer came in a month ago, I think he’d have already committed to USNA.
These are champagne problems.
Good luck to everyone out there still Pending.

So exciting. Now I’ll be waiting for my candidate to wake up and see if there was a midnight change too! Congratulations!!!

This is the coolest story of this cycle, imo.

Really rooting for you!!

And what a story you will have to share! Flown off a ship, to report to USNA.

Yes it may be challenging. But if they choose you, you and your circle of people will make it happen. Heck, I’d help if I could. Lean on your mates/family/friends to take care of your other business and go.

Go SWO!! You will be a welcome addition to the brigade. Don’t worry about what you cannot control. And you could very well be one of those that reports literally with the shirt on their back. And be fine.

BTW, NAPS doesn’t report until later in the summer. So you will have even longer to settle stuff.

What a neat adventure. And what an amazing story to tell your grandkids someday. Hopefully. Sure am rooting for you 🙏 🤞!!
