Ah - found it - wanted to respond to this earlier, but had to dig through the white-out post blizzard occurring in this thread and the “posting every day” thread. So I guess foundation is no longer an option?
The Naval Academy Foundation Scholarship program is administered by the independent 501(c)3 non-profit Foundation, part of the USNA Alumni Assn, equally non-profit and independent, non-governmental organizations. The Foundation Scholarship comes from donated funds, not U.S. govt tax-payer appropriated funds, such as USNA uses for NAPS. I think the way this works is USNA Admissions suggests candidate names to the Foundation, and the scholarship administration and coordination with partner schools happens with the Foundation team. Of course, Admissions and Foundation Scholarship team work hand in hand.
I don’t know why it is not showing in the portal. If it has never shown up there, and the offers have been communicated another way, I would suspect we have a “keep church and state separate” situation. If it has shown in the portal in the past but not now, it could be all offers are out. Depending on acceptances, there may be an opportunity later on.
Looking at past class profiles, Foundation Scholars numbered as:
Class of 2027, 47 from Foundation and civil prep
Class of 2027, 44
Class of 2025, 43
Class of 2024, 46
SWAG - the number is in the forties every year. I don’t know how many are Foundation. The stat is somewhere.
