what do you think our chances are?
Did they post it after hours? That's awesome, congrats!
I can't tell either. My still is unchanged too. But apparently people are saying if they didn't get a scholarship then it says "We're sorry but blah blah blah" Did you get DoDMERB forms? I heard that's supposed to be a good sign.
Why are statuses not being updated? People who have recently posted said that their status changed to "we are sorry but you did not receive a scholarship.... "something like that. What does it mean for people whose statuses have not changed?
Congrats to you and your son.
Good night all.
Just out of curiosity, what schools did you chose? I think some might be more competitive than others. I had University of Cincinnati as my #1, Appalachian State and Ohio University. I'd be happy to get a scholarship to anywhere at this point.
So interesting to see so many students looking at Applachian State, we lived in NC for many yrs., and it always seemed like AROTC cadets would try for NCST 1st yet I have not seen that here.
Just interesting, back on topic.
A word of encouragement for those that don't get a national scholarship this month, do not give up. Prepare for college as if you will be a contracted cadet and arrive on campus fit and ready to go. Join ROTC classes, pass the PT test and get involved in extra activities.
Most schools have some in school slots and its not uncommon to see four year scholarship winners dropping out or failing the PT test the first semester. If that happens the ROO/PMS can snap up the unused scholarships and recommend you for a 4/3.5 year scholarship.
The two schools we spoke to both had several returned scholarships last fall. One had ten slots unallocated by the new year, and the other had nine slots in December and managed to get four year scholarships for five cadets just after X-mass.
Try page 143. That was where I found that info but I'm not sure where they got their info from. Hang in there everyone! I'm still waiting for mine 2.
P.S. ROO stands for Recruiting Operations Officer.
