Class of 2016-Mailbox Stalkers Club

Just confirming that prep school and falcon scholars also need nominations- right? If so I would assume they would be included in the 550 MOC appointments or 100 presidential and possible national pool? Am I correct?

Prep school does not use a nomination as such. They are not "charged" to anyone. You would need a nomination next year for an Appointment. Same for falcons.

Dad- just so I am clear... 2016 candidates who are prep or falcons have to have a nom in order to receive an appointment to the class of 2016 just like hs candidates? Also I assume if they had a nom last year and were selected for prep or falcon that they would need a new nom this year. Correct? Thesem prep and falcons may have noms from MOC or presidential...is there Any other category they could receive nom from? And they can also be appointed from the national pool?

I can speak for the Falcons. Yes, Falcons must have a nomination to receive an appointment. Falcons are required to apply to all nomination sources that they are qualified. Potentially their appointment could be charged to a MOC, Presidential, Vice-Presidential, ROTC, or the Superintendent (national pool).

Everyone needs a nomination for an Appointment. If a young person earns a spot as a Falcon Scholar or in the Prep School, they still need a nomination. They would seek one from all avenues open to them just like HS candidates. I am not familar enough with the Prep School to say if they have additional nominating sources. Blackbird can answer (did answer) for the Falcon Scholars.

Got a second chance. Got NWP. Still stalking the mailbox hoping for USAFA prep school.

Mr and Mrs D are great! NWP is a great opportunity. :thumb:

Did you receive a Falcon Scholarship? If so, you will not receive a USAFA Prep appointment so you can stop stalking the mailbox.

What do you mean by "Got NWP"? Did you apply there and were accepted or did the Falcon Foundation send you an offer to go there?

Applied and accepted. So right now I guess I'm a "free agent"

You are a Free Agent at this point then. DS was also accepted as a NWP Free Agent but then in May he received a Falcon Foundation BFE. Either way can provide the opportunity to be an Air Force officer. Go to California with an attitude to do your absolute best. DS really enjoyed the experience and actually wishes he was still there instead of being back in Kentucky at the University of Louisville waiting for his BFE. He really enjoyed the friends he made at NWP and how they worked together. He is looking forward to being with a good 50 of them on I-Day.

Way to go michigander!!! Do not ever give up your dreams. As other posters have told you your personal achievements have brought you a long way.

Your proven successes have demonstrated that you have what it takes to be successful. NWP is merely a stepping stone to your final achievements.

OOHRAH!

ROMAD will be missed

Best of luck to you, your family and son. We will miss you here, but we know on occasion you will drop a line.

I'll drop a line as we approach the ever wonderful time of SEC football and let you know where we are tailgating at Auburn. My heart is with Bama, but I have made many friends at Auburn as a result of defiant daughter.

Hi folks!

I haven't been on for a couple of days because I've been giving my son some time to think about an issue that he approached me about on Sunday.

. . . . .

It's been a real pleasure to have spent time with you over this last year and I wish each and every one of you a BFE, success, health , and happiness!!!

Best Regards

Romad

Romad,
You have your relationship with your son, and that's more important than anything else. In the long run, you will look pack on this time, and know that how you handled it as a father enabled you to keep the family relationships you will have for many years. The parents who tell their kids they are failures if they are not accepted at USAFA, or push them into a decision to go to USAFA, aren't going to have that close relationship in the future. You are just the kind of supportive Dad your son needs.

God bless you and your family.

SPNU. Can't check mail yet. :confused1:

Also, congrats michigander.
