Class of 2016-Mailbox Stalkers Club

How do you know? Honestly, what the MOC did last yr was last yr. If they have contacted anyone this yr it means they contacted the appointee charged. thus you are not going to be charged to the MOC.

Hope you see where I am going with this regarding why an MOC may not call. They may decide to only contact those they were charged.

Time out here for a second.

What I stated was Monday board meets, Tuesday results are handed down, Wednesday appointments go out in the mail, Thursday-Saturday recipients TYPICALLY receive.

I never, ever said MOCs notify on Thursday. There are MOCs that notify. and there are those that don't! I am the 1st to say don't hang by the phone.

I never, ever said there will be a NEXT WEEK!

I know you want this appointment, I get it, but please understand that at one point it ends. Forgive me if you mistook my post that there will be another week because that was not my intention. My intention was to say don't be Snoopy or dread the mailbox on M/Tu/Wed

I didn't misconstrue anything, I said that it appears the MOCs are notified on Thursday, as in told by the Academy who has been appointed from their district, which is what you said previously, and is also what happened at the last wave..
A side note with my logic as to why we won't hear this week, please no one come after me here because it's simply an opinion: Since it's crickets today (going off common sense, it seems like at least one person on here would've heard today if there had been a board meeting this week, considering some heard Thurs during the "Big Wave" a couple weeks ago), I doubt that anything will come in tomorrow. Also, the ALO I got the 500 appt info from also said that they are making more decisions next week. Feel free to believe what you want, but this is what has led me to believe that we will probably be waiting until next week at the earliest. I hope it's earlier, but it doesn't seem likely to me.
Now, I shall stop speculating and let what will be, be.

Everyone needs to chill out. Being a military brat my whole life there is only one constant in the military and thats things will happen when they happen. Everyone is throwing out info that no one has backed up with any proof other than someone told me this or that, and saying my ALO said, when they are very limited on what they know as well. Your never going to be able to figure out the system so just chill out and wait. you will get your answer eventually. In the mean time devote your efforts to getting ready for plan B and not on trying to out guess USAFA.

I second that thought!

I know it is not optimal to possibly lose your deposits if USAFA finally makes you an offer - but, it is not a huge matter when you consider that if you are appointed, you will not have to pay tuition, and board for school. It's your choice, but by acting on Plan B, you are actually taking control of the situation and giving yourself options that might not be there in another couple of weeks. Good luck everyone!

It's really easy for you to recommend that people prepare for Plan B after you've already been appointed. You just aren't in a position to tell people how to feel/act about the waiting that you don't have to do.

I believe that, as a parent who went through this process last year with their son, usaffanatic is in an excellent position to give advice right now.
Edit: I got falconfamily and usaffanatic's profiles confused. Disregard the part about usaffanatic being a parent.

Your continued disrespect towards people on this forum concerns me.

Going ahead with plan B is also good advice in general...

I agree. Even if one is accepted to the academy, it's a good backup plan in case of an injury or medical issue that may arise that would DQ you late in the game. Personally, it's a great relief to me knowing that I have my college education completely planned out and paid for no matter which route I take.

is Good Friday considered a postal holiday? so no mail tomorrow? :(

Good Friday is a religious holiday, not a notional holiday. Mail will still be delivered.

+1 for you, LFry! :thumb:

Thanks leFry but i am not a parent haha, this is my first year in the process. but @2016USAFA, before i got appointment a mere 2 weeks ago i had already set up my backup which was AFROTC, i accepted the scholarship, visited the unit, and started prepping for my life in ROTC. I actually became excited about it and then i got an appointment which was obviously great but I do understand how the waiting feels. I did it for 7 monthes before i heard. all im saying is that people need to direct their energy to more positive things than trying to figure out dates.

I give a third for this. Act on Plan B, and if you want USAFA (or any of the SA's) that bad/badly, start the MOC nomination process again. The moment USAFA moves in your favor, notify your MOC via phone and writing (so that they have documented proof). If they don't move in your favor, prep yourself for the 1 July app date and 'knock-out' each task as soon as you can. Especially prep for that CFA if that was an area for improvement on your file...

 My bad! I was reading falconfamily's profile page! (says 2015 parent) Oops! haha

Sorry! Great advice still!

May I ask what type (1, 2, 7) scholarship you had? Thanks!

As far as my DS is concerned, we are planning a trip, paying all deposits and taking care of business for back up plan. If we lose a deposit here or there, considering the fact that we will have no Room & Board to pay for four years, it's worth it. If you get an appt to USAFA you will long since forget that deposit you made to your back up plan.

Thanks lefry and to clarify Im not saying that has you guys are out of them gay. Until I-Day rolls around nothing is set in stone. Im not saying you wont get in im saying plan for the worst and hope for the best.

Thank you!

I had a type 7. and a NROTC one and AROTC one, all full rides. (type 2 is just a converted type 7 fyi) And i feel that if your son got a type 1 he should be good. Just wait and see. I know it sucks but nothing else you can do and you gotta admit that free tuition and a commission is still a great backup. Best of luck!

I was going to make an edit, but I was quoted.

Going ahead with plan B is good advice, as you always want to leave yourself options. I plan to reapply if I am not accepted, and I wouldn't want the new application to show a lack of preparation and foresight on my part because I got stuck not going to college. Preparation for problems is crucial to success, and you don't want to screw yourself up this early in the game.

You never know - got a TWE from USNA yesterday. I hope DS gets the option to choose!
