ClickClack,
First off. Welcome and good luck for your upcoming yr.
I agree with others drop the cockiness, especially since you are from a state that is considered very competitive. MOC's in TX share the wealth, in other words, typically 1 nom from the 3 sources available. If you can get a Pres. remember that is a national nom, you will compete against every military dependent across the country and the world, so it is not 1 out 10 on a slate, it is more like 100 out of 500 (less odds).
I also agree that for your PAR you need to bump it up. 660 M is low, 700 is your goal to feel competitive. Flieger, CC (ALO's) stated LY that 700 was the M marker. Many of the TWE's went to candidates with multiple noms, but did not break the 700.
AFA is not being mean, it is just the fact that is how the higher caliber is now for the incoming classes. Even in 2008 for 12, the mean M was 680+. That was a yr they had @1360 cadets, next yr it will be @1100 with the same size pool. Supply and demand will tell you 660 needs to be bumped up.
You did not state how many AP's or your class rank. I don't put too much weight into the gpa, because the AFA may re-weight that portion, and a 3.3 at your school could change to a 3.68 on the AFA scale. The class rank, scale and rigor is more guidance for this site when you say I have a 3.3.
Most AFA candidates will apply for AFROTC too, place into your mind that AFROTC does not superscore, it is best sitting. It is also a national board, not geo-centric like the AFA. They place into the equation tech vs. non-tech. The avg SAT for a Type 1 was 1420, Type 7 was 1360. Typically only 15-20% of the scholarships go to non-tech. AFROTC will only take your final cgpa junior yr. AFA will take 7th semester SR yr.
Work on that PAR portion. Again, best wishes for 2017, thank you for wanting to defend this great country. Take this summer and discuss with your ALO where you are weak. Shore it up.
Also work on your CFA because that is part of your WCS. DS2 played FB for 4 yrs, 2 Varsity, but because of his build pull-ups would have been his problem. You can max everything, but fail 1 portion (min) and that will result in a fail. Yrs ago they allowed candidates to take a 2nd CFA, but not so anymore. Only the AFA can re-open that portal once submitted. JMPO the candidates have the hardest problem on the pull ups and the BBall throw. Practice it now so you can max it.
