What does CPR even mean at this point?

Perhaps you weren't as competitive on the CFA, or your SAT/ACT scores are on the bubble.
I'm not sure if that's right. My BGO told me many times that as long as your CFA score qualifies (you pass) you're fine... in fact USMA had me retake my CFA and I scored higher, but my BGO told me not to bother forwarding the scores to Navy because I passed by their standards.

Even that doesn't make a ton of sense, I maxed 4 events, and I know my ACT is well above the 75th percentile of past classes.

My candidate was also told that the CFA was pass/fail for the most part. DD was also told that it would not make a difference to re-submit just because she could do more pull-ups or whatever it was on the 2nd CFA.

So you're saying that if you are CPR with a nomination, no need for a waiver, etc., that you're pretty much out of luck for this year? Even out of the running for a NAPS or Foundation appointment?

Is there any way of knowing if all of the presidential nominations have been given out yet? Maybe I'm being too hopeful, but I'd like to believe that maybe they haven't allocated all of those yet and they're figuring out which CPR get them. I haven't heard of a lot of people who know that they got a presidential nomination for their appointment.

Well waiting is all we can do at this point, I'm 3Q, have a 32 on the ACT, and BGO said I did great on the physical so I don't know what to think. Plan B is to go to Carnegie and join NROTC there. Wishing everyone the best of luck.

I think you mean VP nominations?
The Presidential Noms from what I understand from reading this forum are candidates with parents in the military? The VP anyone can apply for and we only received a letter stating DD applied and that the VP leaves it to the Academy to give out. Maybe a BGO can comment for sure though. My DD does have a friend that had a Pres. Nom, Mid sib, and received a TWE a few weeks ago.

After stalking the forums and checking the portal an obscene amount of times today. I started thinking about what this could all mean. Obviously, with the Wait list's release today, what does that leave everyone who is CPR such as myself? Surely, if they picked the Wait list, would that not mean they picked all of their candidates to receive an appointment such as in a civilian school, if that's true then they could easily just notify every candidate that they did not get in. These questions got me thinking deeper though, why would they do this the week before their last week before the deadline. Clearly, they could of just wanted to get it done or something to that extent but that doesn't make complete sense. First and foremost, the academy is an academic institution, and if I know anything from going to a college-prep private school with retired admissions officers to help us, they always are working to the last possible second. Now last Friday the 25th I received a call from my BGO, he said that he sent multiple emails trying to contact the higher ups about a delay in the admissions process. If I understand what he said correctly, He said that in December the admissions board got backed up with applications. Having submitted my application in November, which I deeply regret now even though other obligations were holding me back (Thanks college prep school), my application was backed up and apparently wasn't in circulation or something to that extent. Evidently, a massive amount of applications must of been submitted in December, which I suspect is partly Naptown Funk's fault. Therefore, if you're still CPR did you submit your application in November also because this isn't adding up to me. Maybe they are leaving this week to sift through those applications that didn't make through the clog.

Nevertheless, this is all just speculation and just me trying to get a handle on all that is happening. I'd just like to thank everyone hear for making the wait just a little bit more bearable, and wish them the best of luck.

How do we know that the Wait List was released today? Was it published somewhere?

I think all of us that are CPR still and have NOMs, don't need medical waivers, and are 3Q should remain positive. If the admissions board wanted to get rid of us, they could have easily done it by now. I don't know if I'm being overly optimistic but there must be some appointments left that they are still considering us for right? If their wasn't what would to point be of leaving us like this?

He has not heard from BGO since his interview

I'm not here to defend BGOs, but this is the norm. There is nothing your BGO can tell you that you don't already know. I typically don't contact my candidates after the interview -- not b/c I don't care but b/c I can't tell them anything or do anything other than "hold their hand." And their parents, friends, etc. are MUCH better at that than I am.

As a reminder, your BGO doesn't sit on the Admissions board and doesn't know your status until you do. It's not that we don't care, it's simply that the decision is out of our hands and there is nothing we can say to you at this point that would make you feel better. Believe me, I wish we did have the crystal ball.

The sad fact is that there are many, many terrific young men and women who won't be offered appointments. As someone above said, it's a numbers' game. Just as with Stanford and Yale and [you name the great school], they have far more extraordinarily qualified candidates than slots and that means far too many exceptional candidates get TWEs. However, b/c they are exceptional, all will find great "alternatives" and go on to happy, successful lives.

Nothing to do with when your app was completed. DS had everything in except interview & CFA by 8/1 & those 2 before 9/1. Still CPR. He's had an Appointment at USMMA since November. I'm feeling blessed to know my biggest "problem" lately is determining his graduation party theme--USNA or USMMA. Although we are a little frustrated at the delay, we are thrilled either way.
When we still didn't know last year about what graduation theme, I went with globes and maps. I used torn out big road atlas pages for place mats and globes on tables. Pennant buntings were made and hung out of old atlas pages. It was the great unknown destination! Helped reduce the sting a bit by not having the school he was headed to (but not too excited about) pushed in his face. It would be neutral for either school for your accomplished DS. Good luck!

A USNA admissions officer unambiguously told us that although there is a minimum score qualification, the CFA score absolutely matters. He very much emphasised that a good score can make the difference between being admitted and not, particularly in a close consideration. Although my son had a very good CFA, he encouraged him to try to max the CFA. West Point RC said the same thing.

My DS's BGO told us the same as Kndmnc stated. BGO told us not to worry about CFA when we asked if he could retake it two months later. BGO told us that a few more push ups, sit ups, etc. would not change the outcome as the academy knows that you will get in total shape quickly while there. As long as they know that you have good physical capabilities, that is enough.

The strength of my DS is academics and other EC though he has played several competitive sports over the years.

Contacted my BGO yesterday about the status of my app. He told me that it hadn't even gone in front of the board yet and that it will definitely be processed by the end of the week. I'm 3rd gen, with pres nom. I take this as a positive, meaning that no final decisions have been made yet because my application hasn't even seen the board. This could also be because of the fact that it's presidential nom and they haven't looked over those yet? Either way staying positive! Great backup option at USAFA so either way is a win.
