Plebes Dropping Already

No idea if this is accurate but my plebe son today on his call home to discuss medical issues mentioned Plebe Summer end date was August 13th.

Just got a call from my plebe son - they gave him his phone for about 5 mins as he is at the doctor's in DC. He and we are very concerned as they are checking out his heart as he is having some problems when his heart rate gets very high at the peak of working out. Something about brain chills. He said he wasn't at Walter Reed. We didn't really understand what is going on with him physically, and he has never had any medical issues that we know of except his medical waiver issue which cannot be related to this. He was in good spirits and so far seems to be handling Plebe Summer first week fine so far mentally and emotionally. I know he is in good hands and they will take care of him.

He also said the heat has had people dropping like flies during workouts recently. We're from TX in a medium-humidity area but he said the high humidity combined with heat has been brutal.

I always pay attention when @Capt MJ says the roller coaster clicks up another hill...

Roller coaster going back down the hill, seat belts firmly attached. Final update - my son's company commander was very kind to call tonight about 10 pm Annapolis time after I'm sure a very long day to say that my plebe's final test result had come in from his cardiologist's tests today and that all was clear. He is back to full participation and good to go! Feeling relieved...

Rest up for the next coaster climb and dizzying descent.
Glad to hear all is well.

I’m sure he wants to be there with his company, even though the air is getting awfully still out, humidity is horrendous.

I could sure use him over here to help me clear the rest of this tree. Crazy burn bans, keeping me from doing the job right. He can ROM over here. I am sure that DW and me have had it and didn’t know it, being as DW is a school teacher, and she worked all the way through March at the school. She brings everything home. Take your Vitamin D and get a lot of Sun too. That always helps.

Well, cool thing is I got to hear my kids voice. Bad part is he has moved from a 2nd ROM to isolation. Up the roller coaster we go!

Been there, dont that. Food is better, pillows are better, you can talk to your kid all day long if they can stand you 🤪...seriously though, if feel ‘ya!

Feels like just another loss to me, at times. They are used to it by now ☹️ I suspect. This plebe summer is a a shell of a real plebe summer unfortunately. Not through any fault of usna. They are doing the best they can!! But for the kiddos that want to do it, it’s not possible. Big picture it doesn’t matter. But it’s a bummer.

Personally, I expect the whole brigade to eventually end up in “iso” at some point...it is what it is. They seem to be recovering well. Although my guy sent a letter. Stating he was headed somewhere bc of heart something or other. Hopefully it’s a precautionary thing. That was 5 days ago and no further info or update and I assume if there was an issue, they would call a parent about something like that.

BTW, there is a FB group for parents of isolation plebes... no one is penning letters to leadership 😂

If it was something more, your gut is correct, he DS or Detailer (with permission from DS) would call you. So that is the positive! They are adults now and get to make a determination on what is released to Mom and Dad.

Well, 50% of his company is in ISO so he sort of is with them, although he is on a different deck.

wow... so far DS hasnt mentioned anything close to that with his company, although one of his new (post ROM) roommates is in ISO. Hope all ends up ok with them.

I wonder if that study announced today regarding heart related after-effects of this virus has them checking over things in that area.

He has rates to learn, book to read (OIC lent it to him) and writing assignments and company meetings and iso meetings. Said view is dumpsters, food is better than ROM, he says the headache is bad, but could be stress, normal plebe run down and the rest. Neither he nor we are worried, he is in good hands, he just wants to get back to his company and back to training.

justdoit19 - has your son gotten out of isolation or is he still there? I am praying he is out!

It does free up my time- no need to waldo hunt. And it explains the absence of pictures for that company.
@Capt MJ so aptly foretold of the roller coaster ride. Glad we buckled up.
heatherg21 - so I am confused your son is not feeling well obviously so they put him in isolation - are they waiting for covid test to come back and then he can return to his company - bc what if he just is sick with the plebe junk and not covid? seems like he could back to business sooner?? thinking about all these plebes!!!!!
