Summers for Kings Pointers are very short. That's why I always tell families to appreciate the remaining time with your DS/DD before they report. First summer, your MIDN will probably be working INDOC which means he/she will have to return to school after only a couple weeks home. They are required to work at one INDOC, and I would suggest getting it over with the first year. They are required to be present for graduation (assuming it is in person as opposed to virtual) and be back before INDOC starts when they are working. They also might have to re-take a class during summer break which cuts your time with them even more. The split they have also affects their breaks and their time with you. The longest summer break either of our kids had while at KP was six weeks.@azmilmom and @kpmom2013 what can I expect over summer break? Will they be doing something KP related or will he come home for a short time?
Thank you so much! I guess we are about to get busy with quality time in overdrive. His coach informed us he is A-split.Summers for Kings Pointers are very short. What happens if you are a winter and spring athlete? Really short summer breaks? All fall sport athletes are A split. That means that your DS will be at sea for two Christmases, so make sure you enjoy this holiday season together.
Thank you very much. We are now a house divided as DS2 is a cadet at CGA. The smack talk started 5 minutes after notification and devolved into physical contact 5 minutes after that.@Motorman, congratulations and welcome to the Kings Point family!
OMG! I didn't know that. I guess I better get prepared. But I am so excited for himAll fall sport athletes are A split. That means that your DS will be at sea for two Christmases, so make sure you enjoy this holiday season together.
Traditionally, B splitters lose two summers at home, but they might get more time home at Christmas. However, they have just started a C split. Everything may change, and past schedules may not hold true in the future. What happens if you are a winter and spring athlete? Really short summer breaks?
I am going to tag you on a post from the spring I “watch”. It has a lot of info and document links to give you an idea. It references the TWIC card and making copies of the birth certificate, etc.My DS officially accepted his offer at 12:37am EST last night!! Excitement! Anyone know where we can get a logging in book from to view? I know they will send one in May but I just like to be proactive. Plus I am uber excited to have our family become a part of this brotherhood.
Much appreciated!!I am going to tag you on a post from the spring I “watch”. It has a lot of info and document links to give you an idea. It references the TWIC card and making copies of the birth certificate, etc.
Congrats--where are y'all from in TX? DS is a USMMA sponsored prep football recruit at NMMI this year--also from TX.Merry Christmas. I hope everyone had a wonderful day. My DS gave King's Point coaches a lovely present, his official commitment.
