Looks like the Navy and Air Force are probably going to get a bigger share of the defense budget this year. Will this affect Army Personnel size and cuts?

Most likely, with a major shift to confronting threats in the Pacific, the Navy and Air Force probably will get the larger share of the budget. Army plays a pretty minor role in the Pacific compared to the Navy and Air Force. Also looks like the Army won't be growing to 550,000 that the General initially wanted. The budget for the Army been flatlined for the past few years and it is possible there could be manpower cuts in the future.

I anticipate the Army budget being much like it was right after Viet Nam and Desert Storm. It will be "interesting times" for JO's. As a reference, in the mid-1990s the budget was so bad that as a commander I had to get my regimental commander to sign off on every vehicle dispatch. He was pretty peeved about signing vehicle dispatches. Each day as the regimental XO knocked on his door with the vehicle dispatches I got the rolling eye look. We had to turn in ammo as there was not enough money to transport ammunition to the range. Our NTC (National Training Center) rotation was canceled and there wasn't even enough money to go to the field. We still had to do "post beautification" (cleaning the trash on post), so we set that up as a training exercise with trash details conducted as patrols just to get some training for the command and control element.
Good times.

“Trash patrol” takes on a literal meaning. 😆

It wouldn't surprise me if training gets affected. Some units won't get to fire as many rounds and slots to Army schools may be reduced as well.

This article is as of today:

"Christine Wormuth Pledges to Defend Army from Navy, Air Force Budget Grabs"

Sounds like she read the article posted above.

How so? I thought the the roles were shared upon each branch evenly.
Although the Army has troops in South Korea and Hawaii and a few ADA units in Guam and Okinawa, the Air Force and the Navy still has the bigger stick in the Pacific. If anything were to happen in the South China Sea or Taiwan, the Navy and the Air Force would be the first responders. Most of the Pacific challenges today have really shifted to confronting China, these scenarios focus on the South China Sea, Taiwan, and the East China Sea. The Navy and Air Force play the primary role of deterrence in these areas.

I just read on our university parent board that Army will be cutting ROTC funds and will not have any 3 year campus based scholarships next year for Class of '25.
Might or might not be true. As a general rule, beware of what you read on parents’ social-media outlets. What’s said may be based on fact or rumor, but either way, parental angst and oversight urge and adult indignation tend to blow things way out of proportion on Facebook and its online brethren. Again, might be based on fact, but best to get info from primary sources before drawing any conclusions.

Several parents had just gotten off their Zoom meeting with the ROO. He had let them know he had never seen this happen before. This was also the first time the Army limited the number of scholarship transfers they would allow into the school. It is a private university with a steep tuition, so the ROO wanted to be as transparent as possible with the families so they could decide how they wanted to proceed.

Except the Mom’s Page. If it’s on the Mom’s Page it must be true.
