If you are watching, they just showed the legend for the color codeswhat are all the color codes, anyone know?
That ship sailed long ago !Palma..... your age is showing
Yes, I believe it was because someone thought that giving SWO's distinctive wear would improve SWO morale and improve retention.SWOs wear leather jackets?
Pretty bad place for a baby SWO as it is not easy to get the Bridge time needed to gain the OOD qualification and many of the other required checkouts are also difficult. Doing the CICWO quals are also not really easy as the CVN's setup is not a great place to get through the quals. Why is no one picking the carrier? Is that a bad first ship to go on?
At first the SWO sweater (AKA "SWOTER") was intended to be JUST for SWOs and the initial ones were actually the UK(The did the same thing with SWO sweaters about 35 years ago...)
Cool. Thanks. As the uninformed, I just thought it would be one of the cool ones to pick. Makes sense now.Pretty bad place for a baby SWO as it is not easy to get the Bridge time needed to gain the OOD qualification and many of the other required checkouts are also difficult. Doing the CICWO quals are also not really easy as the CVN's setup is not a great place to get through the quals.
Blue chips come about when a Mid does their summer cruise and the CO is impressed with them enough to promise them they can come to that ship when they commission. The Mid doesn't have to take the chip but it's there for them if they want it.And the blue chips are where the crew identified someone they wanted or something like that?
Rota went fasLooks like Norfolk was not popular.
My MIDN told me those were international exchange students and they are returning to their home country’s Navy. Korea was one as well as Taiwan and Madagascar. How exciting!
Malaysia, Madagascar, Thailand, Egypt.
When the Mid pick Egypt, two Egyptian Naval Officers went to the stage.
We deal w the same thing lolI hope they pronounce some of those names better at graduation!
There are only a certain number of billets for O-1s on each ship (and for other ranks too). The ship has a precise manpower plan based on ship class, lifecycle stage, deployment status and other factors. My MIDN told me those were international exchange students and they are returning to their home country’s Navy. Korea was one as well as Taiwan and Madagascar.
Specific to those here who are or were SWO I understand getting in the requisite shipboard training is difficult for baby SWO’s. If multiple MIDN select same ship does it make completing that training is more difficult or can take longer?
