I am waiting as well and I submitted in the first week.I know applicants are told they’ll be contacted by 4/15, but I’m curious….
Anyone else still awaiting word on NASS?
Applied a couple days after it opened in January. Thanks!
Please do not take summer programs as any indication about the competitiveness of your son. That’s not the mission of summer programming. At all. They are designed to increase awareness about the SA’s and what they have to offer. MOST who are ultimately appointed, did not attend summer programs. Many (most?) who DO attend, are not ultimately offended appointments.Just received email, son was denied. Seems to be a trend with us applying early, USAFA Summer camp 2021, USNA Summer Camp 2022, USMA Summer Camp 2021, applied early, all denied. Looks like ROTC or enlisting or something else for my son.
That's true but, 40% of those who get accepted to the Academy in the fall have attended the Summer Seminar. Your chances are much higher of being accepted in the fall if you have attended the Summer Seminar. Please do not take summer programs as any indication about the competitiveness of your son. Make sure and read primary sources about the SA’s, and not make assumptions or presumptions about what something does or doesn’t mean. Or a candidate may miss a fantastic opportunity based on false assumptions.
Summer programs are not a requirement for a successfully appointed candidate. At all.
Says who? My training with admissions just last summer addressed this specifically. Straight from admissions. Attending doesn’t significantly increase your likelihood of an appointment. That's true but, 40% of those who get accepted to the Academy in the fall have attended the Summer Seminar. Totally understand your concern and thought process. I had the same. However, after being on this forum for the past year I have seen this discussed at great length. Acceptance into the Summer programs at the Naval Academy does not reflect on your actual application to the academy. That's true but, 40% of those who get accepted to the Academy in the fall have attended the Summer Seminar. Not true at all.Your chances are much higher of being accepted in the fall if you have attended the Summer Seminar.
