I know applicants are told they’ll be contacted by 4/15, but I’m curious….
Anyone else still awaiting word on NASS?
Applied a couple days after it opened in January. Thanks!

I am waiting as well and I submitted in the first week.

Applied 2nd week of January. Received acceptance email in early March and submitted forms 2 weeks ago. Session 1

In 2021, my DD was accepted to NASS and CGA AIM, and rejected from West Point SLE. This year applied to all 3 academies for class of '26. She was declined by the two academies that accepted her for summer program and received an appointment to the academy (West Point) that declined her for their summer program. Summer programs DO NOT parallel APPOINTMENTS.

Just received email, son was denied. Seems to be a trend with us applying early, USAFA Summer camp 2021, USNA Summer Camp 2022, USMA Summer Camp 2021, applied early, all denied. Looks like ROTC or enlisting or something else for my son.
Please do not take summer programs as any indication about the competitiveness of your son. That’s not the mission of summer programming. At all. They are designed to increase awareness about the SA’s and what they have to offer. MOST who are ultimately appointed, did not attend summer programs. Many (most?) who DO attend, are not ultimately offended appointments.

Make sure and read primary sources about the SA’s, and not make assumptions or presumptions about what something does or doesn’t mean. Or a candidate may miss a fantastic opportunity based on false assumptions.

Summer programs are not a requirement for a successfully appointed candidate. At all.

That's true but, 40% of those who get accepted to the Academy in the fall have attended the Summer Seminar. Your chances are much higher of being accepted in the fall if you have attended the Summer Seminar.

Says who? My training with admissions just last summer addressed this specifically. Straight from admissions. Attending doesn’t significantly increase your likelihood of an appointment.

40 pct means roughly 500 in each appointed class attended NASS. And that’s IF everyone who attended, was ultimately offered an appointment. And that isn’t the case. You chances are not ‘much higher of being accepted in the fall’ if you attend.

A highly qualified candidate, for example, who lives in the area and is able to visit on their own, isn’t their target audience for this program.

Tons and tons of discussion about this. Search the forums. But assuming they aren’t interested bc they weren’t offered a spot at NASS does a disservice to your son. Please encourage him to continue. You may be pleasantly surprised!!

BTW, NASS has 3 sessions. Don’t recall their numbers off the top of my head. But it’s not a lot. No where near as big as appointments offered. And both of my current Mids know very few buddies who attend. MOST didn’t.

*Both my boys went to NASS. One had ONE appointed from his squad, the other had none. 40pct cannot work mathematically

Totally understand your concern and thought process. I had the same. However, after being on this forum for the past year I have seen this discussed at great length. Acceptance into the Summer programs at the Naval Academy does not reflect on your actual application to the academy.
