We are happy for you! USMAPS is a great option! Some considerations:Ok, so I finally got some clarity. I was offered an appointment to USMAPS, not USMA. My Congressional citation is technically incorrect because it refers to an appointment to USMA. Rather than reporting to R-Day on June 27, I think I report for CCBT on July 11. Overall, I take this as good news. Still confused because I didn't think 3Q'd candidates were eligible for USMAPS. Also I thought that all USMAPS slots were filled, but maybe I was automatically waitlisted. I'm also told that a USMA appointment for class of 2027 is very likely if I perform as expected. Overall, I think is great news... right?
I do have to think about this a bit because I have a good setup already with the fall.
Also, just to respond to some comments: My USMA portal is set up for my 2027 application already so I don't see a way to access my 2026 application.
1. Generally going to USMAPS does not guarantee an appointment to USMA. However, the only ways to really get declined from USMA is if you fail your classes or if you get in trouble. Many have gone through, so can you!
2. If you really want USMA, then I’d say go for USMAPS. It may be an extra year, but it won’t be a wasted year. DD’s friend went to USMAPS turning down ROTC scholarships and said it was the best decision they’ve made.
