2027 State Nominations Thread

But if your congressman is really late and the Senator has given his out already that might muddy the waters

how long does it usually take the academy to pick from the congressional nom slate?

I was wondering if anyone had heard anything about PA-10 Perry. I was told after my interview for Casey that he would release his nominations in mid to late January and I know Toomey already released his however, I never heard anything from Perry. Does anyone know when he said he would release his nominations or at least when he normally releases them?

He usually releases it in the 2nd week of Jan.

Bennett/Hickenlooper were still interviewing this past weekend (11/26), and may have one more weekend of interviewing this upcoming weekend (12/2).
Yes they did virtual interviews on the 2nd. My son's attending Purdue and his interview was the 2nd. Their selections are slated to come out first week of January, but hopefully they contact them early with a nice Christmas present.

Does anyone know more about AFROTC/SF-AFROTC nominations??? My sons commander had him fill out forms for it and send it back to him and the dean for approval. But he doesn't know what if anything else is required or if he just waits to see of he gets it. I think he said only three guys from his detachment are looking at the Academy. My boys a little confused on this process and the process for college applicants. So any advice I can pass to him is welcome.

Yes- I got one last semester! My detachment Cadre didn't even know they existed, and at first thought "nomination" and "evaluation" were the same thing. It is an extremely competitive category. Only 20 appointments are given out of it from every AFROTC Detachment and eligible AFJROTC units. I didn't have to do any paperwork, but I did have to sit down with my Col and he just asked me some questions since I was brand new at the time (with only one semester in the Det).

If you have any specific questions on the AFROTC Nomination process I might remember more details and I'd be happy ot help!

Thank you, I will let him know. He had a sit down with his Colonel right before Thanksgiving and his Col gave him a recommendation for his application itself. But I guess he didn't know if for the nomination he had to do anything else, besides what they asked him to fill out which was before his sit down with colonel. So, you may know this... if he gets that nomination and isn't one of the 20 selected, can he be charged to another nominating source if the USAFA wants him?? Or does he have to have his senatorial, congressional, or VP nom as well?

Oh and as a side, it's nice to see you back on here pursuing your dream!!! I'm convinced third time is the charm for you 💕

Presumably your son applied for VP, Senators and Representative noms, in addition to the JROTC/ROTC nom. If he gets any of those, USAFA, if they wish to offer him an appointment, can charge the appointment to one of those noms. They also control some other nom sources, but use those very sparingly.

Yes! It is just an additional nomination that the Academy can use! There is no harm in having it even though it is a very competitive slate.

EDIT: I reread your question. You still need to apply for all sources available; House MOC, Senator, VP, etc. But USAFA can still charge him to the ones they have authority over. They're just very competitive ones.

Yes he sure did. He applied to all of the possible avenues, in addition to ROTC. I was just curious if he only ended up with an ROTC nom, if they could offer him an appointment even if he wasn't one of the 20 selected under that nomination. He is definitely hoping he gets a nomination from more than one source, but i was just more or less I'm just curious.

You answered my question initially, guess I confused even myself 😉 yes, he applied to all possible sources and we were just curious about how the ROTC nomination works. Now the long long waiting game!!!
