Hello All,

I had a few quick questions regarding nominations for candidates/applicants in Florida. Has anybody heard anything from Marco Rubio yet? I've already heard back from Rick Scott (denial), and I just heard back from Vern Buchanan (Interview sometimes between Oct 21 and 22).

I feel like a Senatorial nomination would give me a better chance of getting accepted into USAFA and am crossing my fingers, but silence is usually not a good sign. Also, does anyone have any interviewing tips? I've done these interviews a couple times before, and now that I have another chance, I really don't want to screw it up.

Please let me know. Thanks!

Again this year I am starting this thread to post questions about individual states and representatives for the Class of 2027. Having multitudes of threads for each representative and state clogs up the Nominations forum. I’ve merged the first thread to this one.

It is super early for nomination decisions to come out. Granted members of Congress can do it any way they like, just know most won't do interviews until mid to late fall.
Do a quick search on SAF and you will find dozens of threads/posts regarding interview prep and tips.

Did you already interview with Scott and were denied, or were you denied an interview? I believe also that Rubio’s interview day (at least for NE FL) is 10/22.

Have any Ohio applicants heard from Senators Brown or Portman regarding nomination interview dates.
I sent my nomination applications to both in August, and was notified it was received.

I was just about to call Senator Portman today. I had mine with Brown a few weeks ago. Have not heard anything from Portman yet.

Is an interview part of their process? Elected officials may run nom selections however they wish; some choose not to do interviews.

Their slates are not due to the SA for a while. Interviews can be spaced out over the coming weeks, regardless of when the application was submitted.

Hurry up and wait. The staff is dealing with hundreds of anxious applicants for 4 SAs, with mountains of applications to rack and stack, plus coordinating the interview team and candidates. If you are going to pester the staff, be kind and appreciative! They are not on Snapchat pace.

On our application for Senator Portman, it said possible interview dates were the last week of September, all throughout October, and the first week of November. It is weird that myself and another Ohioan have not received a notice of interview date yet as the application said the board would inform us whether we did or did not receive an interview.

As the famous saying goes, "no news is good news."

I don't want to say over this forum. Once you have enough posts for a PM I can tell you.

Senator Portman's office opens Monday. I will call him tomorrow and update this forum with the information I receive.

Marco Rubio announced those accepted for interview about 2-3 weeks ago, it is in fact on the 22nd like a previous poster said.

Any Ohioans hear from Portman yet? The last post here about it was Sunday and the last interview date according to his website is November 5th. A couple days ago I received word from Representative Carey (OH-15) about an interview date but nothing yet from either Senator.

i have not heard from portman or brown.only my district rep.i just looked on portman's website,i dont see november 5 being last interview date.just november in general.and notification of interview will be through the mail.

I've been calling Senator Portman's office all week but no response yet. I know Senator Brown has already had most interviews. I would call or email Sue Klein with any questions for Senator Brown. She's super helpful and quick to respond.

Senator Portman's application gave the dates of the interview. November 5 was the last one. Off the top of my head, September 24 and pretty much every Saturday in October were listed but I haven't heard of anyone who received an interview with his review board yet.
