Competitive district question

Wow, that is shocking! I would have thought there would be a lot of kids going for it from there!

Our Naval housing was in San Pedro (dating myself there ..... it would have been around 1982).
The Navy moved out of Long Beach/San Pedro quite a while ago. The Naval shipyard and homeport are history.

You can also find your CFA score with this method, you simply right click and inspect element(should work for Mac and Microsoft) and then look at where it says console (this shows all the react/java scripts running through their salesforce API) and you should find it under some javascript element with CFA in the title . You can't really find any other data than your CFA and your nomination information. But if one was already rejected I imagine it would show up under the cis.APPstatus folder. I don't think we should be looking in here, but if it comes to April 15th and you haven't heard from them, I imagine under cis.APPstatus your status object will show rejected.

Yep, we found his CFA score this way as well.

Of interest is that one of the congressional districts in San Diego, and 3 in the Long Beach area are currently listed as under-represented for Annapolis, including the one I used to live in (CA-44 which is parts of LB, Lakewood and San Pedro). I was frankly shocked to find out that information. If I had known that information, we may have moved back a year or so ago. :)
What is the ultimate meaning of a district being under represented and how does that affect one’s chances to annapolis? Curious!

Also, not entirely sure what it means but a little note in my app that says "************ This is where we are" maybe it means where they last left off when reviewing my application or maybe its nothing. Ive been looking for a little bit also and Ive found so much. It even mentions the forms and stuff once you accept your appointment so now i *kinda * have an idea to look forward to IF i get an appointment.

Admissions has a definition of under represented. I don't recall the specifics but it relates to number of applications and number admitted to USNA in relation to the population. Unless you live in one of those areas, it really doesn't mean anything to your chances of Admission. If you live in an "under represented" area, you are competing with fewer Candidates but it doesn't necessarily mean its easier.. First, even if you were the only candidate for a district, Admissions would still have to find the candidate qualified. In addition, all it take is one person to have a better application on the MOC slate. I am in a state where portions are under represented, and my impression over the years is it really doesn't make it easier to get in, the top candidates would be competitive anywhere, but the depth of the candidate pool isn't as deep.

Hmmmm, seems like USNA IT has some work to do if the kids have been able to figure out how to backdoor status that isn't forward facing. I wouldn't be surprised if that doesn't get locked up quick once they know.

This is likely the case in my district. It has a large urban population but for a variety of reasons many of the youth in that district would be very unlikely to consider an SA or would not likely be qualified (I'll leave it at that). However, there are small areas within this district with very high performing public and private schools and it is from these that applicants emerge. This definitely helps in terms of getting a nomination but if there are three or four stellar candidates to compete with, is that really any different than 10?

I think you are correct. I read through the JavaScript again. I believe that candidates will be able to use this method to see if they are appointed, rejected, or wait-listed. I don't know if this is a good thing or not, but it's there nonetheless. Of course it's possible that information will only be on java once it is also posted on the portal, so it won't matter.

A number of years ago, I had a more than decent candidate who had 3 noms from a not-very-competitive district. Turned down. Reapplied. Three noms. Turned down.

As folks above say, there needs be only one candidate on each slate better than you.

Conversely, in very competitive areas, almost all of a slate will end up being admitted.

The system is what it is, put in place by Congress many years ago. Unless Congress changes it, SAs and candidates have to live with it.

Mine says •********* here we are. Right before the has accepted has declined etc. not sure what it all means but simply waiting it out till I hear back from USNA

Sorry, but most likely just a coding technique used for debugging/tracking code execution.
