^ Like what FastFood44 said, it's very possible to get non-military internships while in Naval ROTC. I know MIDN who interned at Northrup Grumman, PwC, Deloitte, etc. There are also ROTC affiliated internships at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Defense Threat Reduction Agency, etc.

No, it's not necessary. In my opinion, studying for finals is significantly more important. Plus, its not worth going out of your way to visit an ROTC unit. I never toured campus before I enrolled (COVID-era), and it didn't really affect me.

If you got service assigned SWO during the Fall semester, is it possible to change your mind and go submarines? Or do you have to wait until after commissioning to lateral transfer?
