    LOR for a Cadet

Without further context, it sounds like a simple motivation tool from the AOC and AMTs. If what @Clar says is true, then paperwork within USAFA sounds similar to AETC 341s. They sound scary, taking on an almost mythic identity, but they can't really hurt you post-training. However, doing what...

Medically Dq'd for USAFA but received ROTC Scholarship - Q's

I know this has been discussed ad nauseum across multiple threads on this board, but as a lesson/warning to future applicants: do not report self-diagnosed conditions on DoDMERB paperwork. Shin splints seem to be a pretty common self-diagnosis on these forums, but not all lower leg pain is shin...

No more Wings of Blue bringing in the US Flag?

This does feel more like selective enforcement in order to engineer a functional ban on certain activity that the Pentagon doesn't want to continue than a legitimate attempt to evenly enforce the flag code. A bit like the "unauthorized flag" ban in 2020 that was simply a confederate flag ban in...

    Cadet Income Taxes

Most tax prep software will have the taxpayer enter any amounts that can be listed as itemized deductions on Schedule A of the 1040, if they desire. Once everything has been entered, the software will recommend proceeding with the option that yields the greatest overall deduction.

Husband of Chief Master Sergeant of the AF JoAnne Bass Fires a Round at Base Intruder

    1. Warning shots are a huge no-no. 2. "Rules for thee...", "Do what your rank can handle", "I share my spouse's rank". Everyone, check your military cliché bingo cards. 3. Ditto

Why did Drum and Bugle not go to the bowl game?

Where does funding for D&B normally come from? Does D&B have any sort of supporting foundation, like AFAAC is to the athletic department?

    Change for West Point

Sure, but there's no guarantee that the new government will succeed long-term in order to enjoy it. Nascent nations are very fragile things. I feel like we're far enough removed from our revolution that most people take for granted just how difficult those early experimental years were.

    Change for West Point

The CSA didn't give any of that stuff back when they seceded, and had they won they certainly would have kept all of those assets. To the victor go the spoils. There's no chance that a victorious seceding side would willingly let a now foreign power that they just defeated in combat maintain...

    Change for West Point

Texas v. White's majority opinion says no secession "except through revolution or through consent of the States," which has pretty much always been the status quo. You declare independence/secession then you have to "prove it" on the field of battle. If you win, congratulations. Good luck...

C-17 Carrying USAFA Women's Basketball Team Makes Allegedly Unauthorized Landing at Stillwater, OK Airport, Damages Runway

I suppose "fund athletics" is a pretty broad phrase. I'm sure there's a lot of NAF that goes into the athletic program, but I would guess that most, if not all, civilian staff are paid with appropriated funds.

C-17 Carrying USAFA Women's Basketball Team Makes Allegedly Unauthorized Landing at Stillwater, OK Airport, Damages Runway

Every Stillwater trip needs an extra day built in for bacon cheese fries at Eskimo Joe’s.

C-17 Carrying USAFA Women's Basketball Team Makes Allegedly Unauthorized Landing at Stillwater, OK Airport, Damages Runway

Stillwater Regional Airport runway damaged due to ‘unauthorized military aircraft landing’ Yikes The story mentions that AF baseball made a similar request to land a C-17 in October when they were travelling to Stillwater for a fall ball game against OK State but were denied because of weight...

    OTS vs USAFA

As I've posted on other threads, holding out for OTS basically puts the applicant at the mercy of USAF's recruiting and end-strength goals for that particular FY. The rated OTS board will evaluate your package on its own merits, so the fact that you received and refused a USAFA appointment offer...

Sorry. Another CFA Score (Female) question...

I have little experience with admissions and their decision-making when it comes to CFA scores. I'm also not an ALO, so I'll let those guys speculate on the scores themselves and stay off their toes. What I will say is that she (and you) should be extremely proud of the progress she has made in...

Defense bill closes door on pro sports after graduation...

New this morning, a provision has been added to the pending omnibus bill allowing for cadets playing under the previous service deferral policy to receive grandfathered exemptions under the new policy. The omnibus is expected to pass this week and could be signed as soon as Friday. NFL draft...
