Hello, I was reading through a document from an unrelated thread and saw an interesting figure. There isn’t an ‘official dollar amount’ that is officially put out. I doubt you could find it online from an official source. BGO’s aren’t told a dollar amount. There are lots of number floating around. You’ll notice that number was reported by the reporter, and not sourced. Not the Naval officer.
Schools ask students to report their dollar value of scholarships so they can add it to their announcement at graduation. A student can report whatever amount they want.
There isn’t, to my knowledge, an officially reported exact monetary value amount. And this comes up every year. Lots of past discussion if you search.
Document: https://www.usna.edu/StrategicPlan/...itutional_Effectiveness_Assessment_Report.pdf
On file page 13, USNA reports that the cost per graduate is $438K. The cost to educate is $59K, which I don’t understand is referencing tuition or something else.
Anyways, I think ‘cost per graduate’ is probably a pretty close estimate of what it takes to train a midshipmen, but who knows if this really includes everything.
