USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

There isn’t an ‘official dollar amount’ that is officially put out. I doubt you could find it online from an official source. BGO’s aren’t told a dollar amount. There are lots of number floating around. You’ll notice that number was reported by the reporter, and not sourced. Not the Naval officer.

Schools ask students to report their dollar value of scholarships so they can add it to their announcement at graduation. A student can report whatever amount they want.

There isn’t, to my knowledge, an officially reported exact monetary value amount. And this comes up every year. Lots of past discussion if you search.
Hello, I was reading through a document from an unrelated thread and saw an interesting figure.

Document: https://www.usna.edu/StrategicPlan/...itutional_Effectiveness_Assessment_Report.pdf

On file page 13, USNA reports that the cost per graduate is $438K. The cost to educate is $59K, which I don’t understand is referencing tuition or something else.

Anyways, I think ‘cost per graduate’ is probably a pretty close estimate of what it takes to train a midshipmen, but who knows if this really includes everything.

Active Duty Military does not pay taxes on their lodging or their housing allowance nor on their rations/Subsistance Allowance.

Sorta/Kinda like how Civilians do not pay taxes on travel/lodging/food expenses picked up by their employer which can be a very substantial amount for some folks.
LOL I know - I am a CPA tax preparer. Just making the point that number would come way down if they did.

Lmao - I knew a CPA years ago that got a generous allowance when on travel. And he packed sandwiches/drinks so he didn’t spend any. Thats why he has money and I don’t.

The cost per graduate is $438K for the Class of 2022

DS (2nd year applicant) received a transcript question from admissions yesterday. Box still unchecked; he called before application deadline to confirm transcripts were received, which they were. Ensign working on his package did not have them. DS responded to email, today they were located, still no check in the box. Only posting to let you all know there is a sign of life in admissions, lol. (#RAHVAMIL)

That was the same with me, but my college transcripts still don’t show up as checked off. I confirmed with multiple people that they have them but due to an IT glitch, they don’t have a check mark on them yet

Decision received. Via email and portal.

Onto all DSs other choices! 3 out of 4 and all he was excited about. Now he’s exploring all the other avenues to serve. USNA was a reach but he reached hard and I’m so proud.

This community is amazing and wishing you all the best.
Congratulations! Hope March will bring good news to many including my DS 🙏

Very thoughtful note. Thank you, and best wishes to your DS!

My apologies I misunderstood your post. Good luck to your DS!

The Navy Football schedule for 2024 is out…..
I have hotel reservations for I-Day, parent’s weekend, Homecoming football game vs Charlotte on 10/16 and Football game vs Tulane on 11/16.
Now all we need is an appointment to the Academy. We’re preparing for the best case scenario.
If it happens I’ll lock into season tickets!
Hopefully Plan B & C are not needed
🙏🇺🇸
