Army ROTC 2023-2024 3rd Board

Something doesn't add up here. If your status changed to boarded, then that would indicate you were reviewed by the board.

Who, exactly, told you that your packet was not reviewed?
a PMS at one of the schools i am going to. i was also upset and confused! but after my dad messaged the guy and i told him i was going to email cadet command, he told me i shouldn’t and that i should just wait til the next board. we were also just told my a PMS from a different school that since our packets were never looked at, we should continue to add to them before march 11th. it’s all very weird

Definitely strange. I have never heard of anything like that.

Regardless, make your application as good as it can be by the 11th, and good luck to you!

The PMS doesn't look at your packet the board does. PMS and ROO can access I believe if they want if they are a listed school. Whether they (PMS) do look at it and or not has no bearing on the board. Certain things can add to your already tabulated OML score like PT and SAT/ACT. It is not a super clear process which is probably why you see a ton of parents (like me) on this board. I am pretty knowledgeable since I have 2 sons who are scholarship winners... and I or my sons have likely emailed my cadet command contact email about 6-10 times per child with questions.... especially with the last board technical glitches. Do not hesitate to ask. Your contact is the one who approves uploads.

I just got a call congratulating me on a 4 year scholarship. Didn't think it would be this early since the board is March 18, but I'm not complaining.
Starting this thread for the upcoming 3rd board. Good luck everyone!!!
I randomly got a 4-year scholarship today. Maybe they accidentally released some?

Doesn't the 3rd board meet March 18-22, 2024?
Yes, but I randomly got a decision in my email with a winner letter in my ROTC portal. Not sure why, not complaining either; check your portal, you might have a happy accident in there (im 99% sure they accidentally released my decision early ;)).

First off, congratulations!

Second, who called you? And you got a winner letter in your portal before the board even meets? That's crazy.

He said he was an Army "Outreach Specialist". Yeah, I think they accidentally uploaded my winner letter early. Dunno if it was an error on their end, but I read it, accepted my #1 choice school, signed and uploaded the "letter of intent & acknowledgement". Not complaining though!!!

Are you a new applicant for the March board? And do you have insane stats?

I think since your status said unknown earlier today, that you got a 4 year ROTC scholarship from another source. There was someone on board 2 that had the same thing happen. Their status was unknown and then switched to winner. I will go and try to find that post for you.

Earlier I was able to log in and see my DD's status changed to "Winner". She had received a 4-year national winner letter in the portal in December but had a status of "UNKNOWN" right up until the site went down for maintenance a few days ago. She had emailed to find out why her status was "UNKNOWN" for weeks and they told her that it indicated her scholarship offer came from another source not recognized by the portal (at that time I guess). All this to say that something changed for her during the site maintenance.
SpongeBob, above is the person who commented on the 2nd ROTC board. It sounds similar to your situation.

So you were a new applicant. What is your GPA, SAT, etc.?
Varsity Captain of 3 sports for 3 years in each, freshman captain of said sports for one year. I have a 4.8 weighted (about 12 AP classes under my belt), 3.9 unweighted gpa, 1360 SAT (800 math but only a 560 reading/writing), president of 2 clubs, vp of 1, work about 20 hours a week at a grocery store, awards from my school, country, President's Volunteer Service Award, stuff like that. I think i had a strong application, except for the SAT. I perfect scored math but im absolutely horrid at reading and grammar tests. I never liked to put stuff out there cause I'm afraid someone with "less" numbers than me will feel discouraged, but those are my numbers. Still waiting on NROTC.

Definitely a lot of big decisions. Congrats on the 3 year! I think there is a good shot for all this time around. Quite a few friends of my DS got the scholarship, but have already turned it down for the service academy they were selected to. 3 kids I can name, which is 3 ROTC scholarships that in the end give money back to the ARMY due to the declination of those 4 year packages. So you never know.

DS has a 4 year ROTC scholarship and was accepted to his SA so will be turning down the 4 year so that's another up for grabs. There will be a lot of upgrades offered! SA accepts around 1200 students, many if not most of those candidates will be turning down their ROTC scholarships, but I assume at the last minute!

I wish it worked that way, but everyone "in the know" swears that a kid who declines a scholarship doesn't mean that scholarship goes to someone else. Apparently, there is a set number of scholarships (4-year and 3-year) to be offered each year and they already factor into that number the fact that so many will not be used.

In the end, who really knows? It doesn't matter. After the March board is over, whatever it is is what it is and we move forward.

Congratualtions to your DS on his appointment! That's very exciting, and I wish him the best of success at the academy!

Many say to hold onto your ROTC Scholarship until the very end in case something happens and it does not work out to go to SA. Like getting hurt, etc......

Hello everyone I have a question. I'm trying to see if I can add that I am a member of the World Language Honor Society but I don't see anywhere to put it in. Should I just put other or what else could I do?
