USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

Checking my portal after a while and the bgo interview i had all the back in December has had a checkmark since then but not it has a received date. Probably doesn't mean anything but interesting it took this long.

that’s a bit funny bc I have the same exact date to when it was recieved and I did mine in December

There are still appointments going out, my summer seminar roommate received his appointment today.
Do not lose hope please; so much time left:)!! This is an incredibly competitive thing! I can tell you that having perfect everything won’t guarantee an appointment; they are putting together a puzzle! My DS had about what yours had last year (4:15gpa, 31 ACT 1390 SAT, lots of volunteer stuff and team captain and a VA Sen nom); he got TWE on the 12th of April. This year he’s a 33 (36 is the highest) ACT, 1510 SAT, two noms (MOC and NROTC); and As in hard colleges courses and active in his college NROTC unit and did great at NSI and he’s still waiting and may not get an appointment. I understand this year but did not last year. Please secure a solid plan b and c (he didn’t last year and had to scramble); if USNA is his destiny, apply again and work to improve all measurables. Even then there aren’t guarantees but the process has improved him so much and I’m grateful for USNA even if he never gets in. Don’t give up hope!!!:) Good luck to your DS and mine and all the other diamonds here!! Go NAVY!!!

Thank you for sharing.

Wow, my son's app has been pending since finished 1st of January, I am as nervous as he is. He also has his application in the USMMA, our congresswomen gave both the USNA and USMMA nominations to him, so he was really stoked. Myself and my oldest are/were both enlisted so we are hoping for the best. Just hurry up and wait!!!

@Lkt is wise! We have been IN IT since this time last year, with our now re-applicants. My DD also ended up at her Plan B (she only had a Plan A and a Plan B- Plan C would have likely been a gap/sports year) and has thrived in every possible way. Although USNA is her hope, if she gets an appointment, there will be a lot of tears and missing dear friends and walking away from some wonderful leadership opportunities in order to start over as a plebe. But LKT and I are holding out hope for our coffee meetup in Annapolis this summer!!

Right there with you 👍

MOC just called, officially appointed to Class of 2028! 😁 BFE is already enroute apparently, but snail mail, so will take “coming soon” with a grain of salt
A big congratulations to you, sailor!

Don't forget to jump on the FB page and if if you are in NYC...

Hopeful for you to join! USNA seems to be delayed on admissions this year, actually though, so waves are significantly delayed!
Glad you brought that up Blinkus!:) I hope you won’t leave us now that you are all appointed; I’d miss ya! I heard the same at USMMA last week that a few days prior (so let’s go with 10 days ago) the USNA had only offered 300 appointments total. They are behind and we should all just know that only a quarter (plus a bit) of the class are already appointed!:) Lots of spots to go!

CONGRATULATIONS! You did it. So proud of you. I hope my DS gets to join you soon. Either way, you are going to do great at USNA. You have the drive and the initiative to succeed. Best of luck.

We don't really know how many offers of appointment have gone out yet. But, I like to remind people, USNA has earmarked a certain number of the outstanding forthcoming appointments. Here is the Class of 2027 profile...

In looking at that profile, you'll see there are nearly 200 appointments for NAPS, 45 for Foundation and 20 from the fleet directly. So, keep in mind there's roughly 265 of the outstanding appointments that are going to non-direct / non-re-applicants. This makes your accomplishment as a direct (and for those re-applicants) appointee all the more impressive as the number of offers available is actually less than the total offers made given that a chunk of those are already spoken for.

Fingers cross for everyone!
