Army ROTC 2023-2024 3rd Board

Thanks a ton! One other question you may know. A school he is very interested in just restarted their program this past year and was not listed as an option during the process. IF he decides on that school, is it possible to 'transfer' the scholarship in such a case?
The general consensus is that transfers are usually fairly easy to get. I don't know why the specific situation you describe would impact that, but I have not seen anything about transfer to newly restarted programs. There may be other things to consider with restarted programs. I am not saying there is anything concerning about that, I just have no idea and would see if anyone with more experience and knowledge has informed thoughts. There are quite a few threads on the forum about transferring. I don't remember any questions similar to yours but may be worth a search.

Same boat here. And guessing we won’t get any updates until Tuesday at a minimum due to the long Easter weekend. Ugh!!!
I can tell you that unfortunately, given the fact that so many winners were revealed yesterday, if you didn't get a scholarship award you probably won't. Can't say definitely, but probably. And I also remember in past boards that people just sat at "boarded/under consideration" for a while.

I do agree with you that it will likely be next week, or even longer, before everyone is moved to a "not selected" status. It could be that there will be a few more scholarships to hand out, so I wouldn't lose all hope just yet. However, I would start looking at Plan B in the forum of campus scholarships offered by the various schools you are interested in and/or the Minuteman Scholarship program through the National Guard/Army Reserve. The Minuteman is actually a fantastic program, and I can tell you I would have had my DS pursue that had he not gotten a scholarship award.

Thanks for all the great info! Luckily, my son has already committed to his first choice school and with a nice sized merit scholarship we are good to go. It just would have been an honor to receive a ROTC scholarship as well. He’ll still join the unit and maybe earn one along the way. 😊🤞

If you aren't selected for a national scholarship here and are OK with doing Guard or Reserve duty, then I would definitely pursue the Minuteman Scholarship. It's an almost guaranteed scholarship opportunity, though you cannot pursue active duty if you go that route.

Gather up all your info, look at your options and choose a path. If you are dead set on active duty, there are still other ways.
Thanks for this! It is very helpful. What are the other options for active duty?

Same! we are 99% committed to chosen school. We have gotten a decent merit scholarship and may appeal for a bit more. Will also look to see what ROTC offers the school may have directly and try again next year if that is possible. He is very interested in active duty post grad as of now, so it appears the Minuteman campaign may be out for us.

One is to just just the ROTC at school, do a good job and earn a campus-based scholarship.

Another is to enlist and then do the Green to Gold program.

Hi! I think my DD would be interested in the Munuteman scholarship. She is going to do her undergrad then move into the DVM program ans become a Vet hopefully. She wants to be a Army vet. Her brother is a Vet tech in the Army. Do you recommend contacting Army National Guard recruitment site to discuss with a recruiter?

Got the 3 year AD to tulane University
Congratulations!!! That’s wonderful! Tulane supplements with a room and board scholarship automatically, I believe.
I wonder if Tulane would also supplement for the additional year?

My DS received a 3yr to his top 3 choices. He had average scores I believe but maxed out the interview is the feedback we got, if helpful to others. I have a few questions that are not clear to me.
  1. As a 3yr scholarship recipient, what are your military commitment obligations post graduation?
  2. What rank are you commissioned as upon graduation as a 3yr recipient? I see that 4yr come out as a 2nd LT.
  3. What is the financial assistance work given he has $15,500 from the Dean Scholarship from ERAU? Will it go towards the rest of tuition, etc.
  4. Can he change majors from what he chose in the portal during the application process?
I’d say check your email I got one from their ROO, Mr. Young (R) LTC (Who I did my interview with) and it should have more info about what ERAU offers. Here’s what I do know they offer,

Additionally, Embry-Riddle provides an excellent financial aid packages to all 3-year and 4-year National Scholarship winners. The National Scholarship only covers Fees and Tuition. At most public universities you will have to find a way to pay for room and board (Where you sleep and eat).

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University provides:

  • Complete room and board for all 4-year National Scholarship winners, can be used on or off campus
  • $30,000 guaranteed financial aid package for all 3-year National Scholarship winners Freshman year, then sophomore through junior year an $8,000 assurance grant to be used for room and board either on or off campus”

Also yes you can change you major you just have to message the Director of Admissions, the one I was in contact with is Florida based and her name is Elizabeth Bridge
Assistant Director of Admissions
Office of Admissions Daytona Beach

Army doesn’t particularly care about your degree from what I’m told it’s more so your character, performance in the program and your effectiveness.

Thank you!! So hyped after the let down from the second board. You're correct about the room and board AND meals offered by tulane, which will help my financial situation immensely. I'm hoping they will supplement the first year, but they also gave me good merit (almost half tuition), so I will be okay either way. Still waiting for the 4 year marine option results but for now i'm locked in with this.

Do scholarship winners receive a certificate or something in the mail? If yes, what is the timing of it?
They do!!! It’s actually really nice! Comes in a degree type folder. Took a couple weeks after the initial notification…. But worth the wait :)

Same boat here. And guessing we won’t get any updates until Tuesday at a minimum due to the long Easter weekend. Ugh!!!
I was on pins and needles in January waiting for the results and thought my son didn’t get one. The board was down for a bit and there was a lot more waiting than usual. I figured we could go through all his stuff and make sure everything was there and add anything else that could help his “file” look good. I logged on 2/22 to make sure my latest uploads were received and that’s when I saw WINNER and scrolled down and saw he received a 4 year to his top choice college! I have never cried so hard in my life! Be patient… you will get your good news soon. :)

Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all had a nice Easter weekend.

So, as of this morning, the banner message atop the scholarship portal has been updated to the following:

*** The final Scholarship Board has been completed and all results have been released. *** If you need assistance, please email your processor or usarmy.knox.usacc.mbx.train2lead@army.mil ***

I would say at this point if you did not receive a scholarship unfortunately it doesn't look like one is coming. Also, still no word on any upgrades. Does anyone out there have any additional information as to whether any upgrades will be offered to previously awarded scholarships? Anyone been in contact with an ROO or PMS about timing?

Yeah I saw this too. I have not seen anything about upgrades for anyone yet. Interesting the portal was updated today though. Someone is working....lol

I currently see the message that the board has been completed and the results have been released. But it still says boarded/under consideration. Should I be worried or do I still have a chance to receive a scholarship?
