USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

Absolutely. We have a daughter on 4-year ROTC at a school that is the perfect fit for her. She was not inclined to attend USNA but has found her home and expects to commission next year.

Someone just told me this weekend that USNA sent more kids to USUHS in 2023 than before and intends to continue doing so. Does anyone know the details?
Numbers from USU's
Class of 2023 numbers:
Ninety-four students (55%) have had no previous military experience. The remaining seventy-seven students (45%) have been associated with the military in the following capacities: 8 were active duty officers; 5 had prior active duty as officers; 17 were active duty enlisted; 12 had prior active duty as enlisted personnel; 17 were 2019 service academy graduates; 11 were direct graduates of ROTC programs and 7 Reserve Components.
Class of 2024 numbers:
One hundred and five students (61%) have had no previous military experience. There remaining sixty-six students (39%) have been associated with the military in the following capacities: 11 were active duty officers; 2 had prior active duty as officers; 20 were active duty enlisted; 4 had prior active duty as enlisted personnel; 18 were 2020 service academy graduates; 6 were direct graduates of ROTC programs and 5 Reserve Components.

Is there any stats for how many people get selected off the wait list?
Could be 0, could be a lot. Stats don’t matter since it’s so dependent on things that aren’t controllable.

NAPS - Conditional Offer (LOA)
I will be thrilled to get accepted into NAPS and then USNA. I have a DQ from DoDMERB still. It doesn't say they are requesting any more information. Does this mean they are working on it on their end? The DQ is ADHD and I haven't taken any medication in almost two years. No accommodations. They know this information. I don't know if I can exhale yet, but I am hoping it changes soon, and I will be going to NAPS! I wish everybody the best of everything whatever path you pursue. Thank you so much for the support and camaraderie of this site.

Setting aside the “dragging” characterization, did Admissions wake up every morning mumbling bwah ha ha, how can we torture this candidate some more? You didn’t have a nom (not USNA’s fault), yet they saw enough that impressed them that they hung with you as long as they could. They said they would let most know their status by mid-April, and they did so. NASS and Inspire are recruiting and public relations outreach programs that have no impact on your candidacy, and many applicants are turned down, for simple capacity reasons. It is indeed tough news, but you are in control of how you feel and think about it. If you want to go there, you reapply, regardless of how your process played out. If you are ready to let it go, that’s okay too.
It’s all good. But feel like it’s time to let go. Some things are just not meant to be yours. I will make my decision eventually, but when I see how awesome the stats are for some re-applicants (that still get turned down a 2nd time) combined with my experience so far, just looks like it may not be my destiny. I knew my chances for direct entry were virtually nil, but frankly the fact that I wasn’t even offered NAPS waitlist with my background (BGO said I was a perfect fit for NAPS, but obviously I know that doesn’t mean anything) seems to tell me the story I need to hear. Like I said, good luck to everyone else.

But still would be nice to see what it looked like in previous years
As I mentioned in the waiting thread, there were 14 that were taken from the waitlist just from the forum posters for '26, which likely means the actual number pulled would probably be higher as not everyone posts their activity onto SAF. Not sure how many last year.

TD 😭😭. My DD only applied to USNA after feeling at home @ NASS. We have no military background, she's first generation American. I wish we would've done so many things differently based on what I know now (Thanks for this forum), but I found you too late. Off to plan B. With her associates degree completed upon graduating HS, she'll be done with college in 2 yrs. Not sure if she'll want to reapply - She's still in school.. We are 💔. Good luck everyone.

So sorry to hear this.

I'm really sorry.

These TDs are so heartbreaking.
