USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

Setting aside the “dragging” characterization, did Admissions wake up every morning mumbling bwah ha ha, how can we torture this candidate some more? You didn’t have a nom (not USNA’s fault), yet they saw enough that impressed them that they hung with you as long as they could. They said they would let most know their status by mid-April, and they did so. NASS and Inspire are recruiting and public relations outreach programs that have no impact on your candidacy, and many applicants are turned down, for simple capacity reasons. It is indeed tough news, but you are in control of how you feel and think about it. If you want to go there, you reapply, regardless of how your process played out. If you are ready to let it go, that’s okay too.
maybe they don't but our experience with USNA compared with 4 SA's over the last 4 years has been the worst

Unfortunately, DS went from pending without a nomination to turned down. Looks like he will be enlisting in the Marine Corps with an eye towards Raider assessment and selection. Looks like our family is just meant to be enlisted :p. The best of luck to everyone in their journeys, I wish you nothing but great things!

I'm sorry. Best of luck to your son. He will do great things.

Thank you for your service. May great things lie ahead for your family.

You can read into what you want. This is my prediction. The waitlist letter said they offered 1250 spots but so did the waitlist letter from 2027.

The wait list letter we received had "2027" in the file name, so I assume it's just last year's letter

TD 😭😭. My DD only applied to USNA after feeling at home @ NASS. We have no military background, she's first generation American. I wish we would've done so many things differently based on what I know now (Thanks for this forum), but I found you too late. Off to plan B. With her associates degree completed upon graduating HS, she'll be done with college in 2 yrs. Not sure if she'll want to reapply - She's still in school.. We are 💔. Good luck everyone.
I am sorry. It is heartbreaking. BUT, it's not over now, unless your DD decides it is. It's hard, but you've all learned so much these last few months. If this is something she truly wants, it can happen. Deep breaths, there is tomorrow. I said before, last year, we didn't know enough to know what we didn't know. A year later, we know more and understand "morther" than that. Good luck to you all.

good point. 15,000 just seems high.
I don’t think it is high because they use the number of candidates as the number that apply to summer seminar because that starts your application. That app is easy to fill out and they sell ya a bill of goods that makes ya think it’s possible at any level (believe me I went through all of it from in person briefings to online); example, my younger son (junior) likes Army (probably cause his brother is all Navy all day) but has no chance at Westpoint (3.0 and might get his SATs to 1200, maybe) but would love to play hockey for them (good AA forward) and well, what the heck, he put in for the SLE (their summer seminar). Can’t imagine he’ll make the cut but it’s a good way to see if he’d like Army! But now he’s officially a candidate and they are asking him to start completing his application. See my point; that’s why these numbers are so skewed. I personally think this whole process is misrepresented. If my oldest DS (1510 SATs, 33 ACTs, straight As, NROTC wonder boy, NSI marvel, captain of all wrestling and volunteering galore can’t get in after two try's, oh and Sen Kaine nom first time and this year, Con. Wexton and NROTC) I don’t see how it works at all. More power to all you amazing young women that got in all these years!! You are awesome and please go and make our nation proud at Navy! For those that didn’t get in, after one or two or three tries, yall kick butt too! Just as hard as they do! These rejection(s) don’t diminish you at all. Go and show yourselves and the world what you are made of!!! I know you can do great things with or without the Naval Academy!! Good luck!!:)

If she really wants to serve, either go NROTC or OCS (after graduating college) once commissioned it doesn't matter where you went to college - everyone is the same as an Ensign.

So sorry....I feel the same way....it was a difficult process.....wishing you and yours the best

Woke up early.... I saw TD for my daughter. Her dream of being on the Yard with her sister is over but she has an awesome Plan B with USCGAS or USMMA. Two great options and really excited for her future. She really worked hard for these opportunities.

It has been fun, nerve-wracking, and stressful, but I enjoyed sharing the ride with everyone. On to awesome plan B's!! I wish everyone great success in the future... Go NAVY! BEAT ARMY!
Thank you and to your two DDs, too ... with to, two, and too in the same sentence! :) Congrats on an awesome Plan B.
