Call from MOC = appointment to USMA?

My understanding is that if you are slotted with a ROTC nom or Presidential nom, you will not get a MOC call as you did not receive your appointment off their slate.

I know that a young man from our region who was in ROTC at a Kentucky university received a call from our MOC on the same day as my daughter ( we have an active grapevine in KY-05, lol) . Of course, this could be a two slot year for him.

If the young man had a MOC nom and a ROTC nom, then his appointment may have come off the MOC slate. He didn't have to win the slot to get the MOC call, just had to be on the slate as he still had a MOC nom.

There is really just no way to know. I have seen it go both ways in terms of calls from the MOC.

I had a candidate a few years ago who only had a Presidential nom to WP. He had a MOC nom to USNA. Was offered an appointment to WP, but not to USNA.
I first knew of the appointment offer to WP on my portal. I inquired about how he would be first notified since he only had a Presidential and was told that since he did not have a MOC nom to WP, then a MOC would not be calling him. They don't contact the MOC if the candidate is not on their slate.

But, things change and I am curious to know if anyone received a MOC call if they did not have a MOC nom.

Quite a few appointments went out today. The West Point system updates and the MOC gets notified. They have 72 hours and then their portal changes and the BFE is mailed. FFRs could also confirm after the 72 hour wait.

So the candidates portal won’t update until MOC has the chance to call?
My daughter got the call yesterday and her portal has not updated. I think they give the MOC a window to call if they want and then update the portal after that.
Yep!
