USNA 2025 Waiting and....Waiting

Debated about coming back on this thread to update, but I was encouraged by all of you so maybe I should. For the past 2 weeks we felt lost, crushed almost, I cried for 2 days straight when my friend's ds received his USNA appointment last Sun. DS had moved on and we just paid our deposit on plan C yesterday! He was going to be in a dorm with 2 of his closest friends and take a plebe schedule, with no NROTC there he would go a year without the battalion camaraderie. He was sure about this plan, and had peace that this was a good direction. This morning he came upstairs and said "I am not going to --- now, I've received a full ride 4 yr NROTC to -- plan B (or is it A-)!" The school is covering R&B for the 1st year. DS was torn but it has just taken the day for him to switch gears and get excited! We are beyond thankful. This has been a wild-long-ride. GO NAVY!

I don't understand the rationale behind extending the deadline, but I feel like there are one of two scenarios going on:

1. USNA has given out all the appointments, and any future spots that become available go to those on the waitlist. So unless they've been holding out an appointment for us (which is extremely unlikely this late in the game), we're just being strung out to receive a TWE.

2. If people on this thread end up getting appointments, this undermines the entire point of the waitlist to begin with.
My understanding of waitlist is it is not one big pool. it is category by category. For example, if there were two candidates they wanted to admit in one congressional district, but only one slot for that MOC, they might waitlist one candidate in the event the one acccepted turns down. but that is for that particular slot, not any slot that opens up. I understand that is how the waitlist is structured. So, they are still admitting in other categories, despite having given out waitlists for some other categories.

Thank you for the insight, can you please let me know how you learned of this information? Trust me I WANT to be wrong, so the more information the better :).

I would not despair just yet. I would guess they are not starting any NEW waivers. For example.. if you are under dodmerb review and it turns out you will need a waiver, you probably will miss this cycle. But if you are currently under waiver review and it gets resolved by friday to a waiver granted you are golden. Otherwise, I agree with you, it does't make any sense to hold on to a bunch of TWEs for no reason. Just a hunch. I did read the above post from commited1204 that said "nobody is being considered for waiver". I am hoping that is a misunderstanding and that it should read, "USNA will not be initiating any more waiver reviews".
In previous years, propsective midshipman have waited on waivers to clear up until the week before plebe summer starting.

In the chat today, Lt. Kim said that there is no deadline on waiver reviews and that they might not be completed until weeks after the deadline. I inquired about the May 15th extension rumor but there was no response to that. Ugh

Congratulations! We are in the same situation... we've been waiting and waiting. I have two DS that applied to USNA, NROTC, AROTC. One DS was TWE'd a few weeks ago when the mass TWE envelopes went out, the other is still waiting so we moved on to plan B/C and put a deposit on their #1 school. Then AROTC offered a 3 yr scholarship and the school is picking up the first year tuition and R/B for both kids! NROTC denied them today. So plan C becomes plan A-. One DS is still waiting on USNA though. Oh and now the wardrobe of Navy clothes that we have accumulated in this process need to change to Army clothes.... so that's a little weird. However my DS's really just want to serve our country.

Just curious - are there any recruited athletes still waiting on USNA but have an offer on the table for a D1 school? The 5/1 deadline is looming. Trying to figure out what to tell the other coach, esp if DS still hasn’t heard anything from USNA and potentially may not by 5/1 as DS is currently “under waiver review.” Obviously USNA is his #1. Any advice would be gladly welcomed.

Thank you! With twins-that has got to be the hardest wait ever, rooting for one to get a BFE. But WOW! Congrats on the scholarships for both of them! Maybe that will be easier on you for visits and holidays. Lol, yeah the clothes, I can at least keep my Navy sweatshirt I was ready to paint the house in yesterday.

My DD is a recruited athlete and has heard nothing. My DD was recruited in September of her junior year. She had other offers from D1 schools but Navy was her #1. It's very worrisome as I'm sure this late in the game, her other offers have filled their rosters. She and 2 other commits did not receive a nom and are still waiting also. My DD is also under waiver review and has been since November. Her admissions counselor said yesterday that she would hear by Friday at the latest. Keeping the FAITH. My DD is much better at this waiting game than I am!!

🤣🤣🤣🤣 That sums up the feeling perfectly!

My DS is a recruited athlete with a nom and no waiver required. Still waiting.
Unfortunately, he had deadlines on his other D1 offers and they are gone.
He will not play at his backup school but will be in ROTC - it will be time to focus on serving rather than sport.
Still praying for USNA to happen!

I just received a reply email this morning from my USNA Admissions Counselor. He said ➡️ "Decisions are still being made for the class of 2025. If you have not received a decision email yet it means you are still in consideration for an offer to either USNA or one of our prep programs. I unfortunately do not have an exact date as to when all notifications will go out."🧩🧩🧩🧩🧩 ⬅️ Keep the FAITH everyone! Stay positive, and Fly NAVY! ⚓ Stay strong, and DON"T GIVE UP THE SHIP!

Reach out to the Navy coach. My DS's coach emailed his recruit class and said any recruit that didn't have a nomination to "don't panic." He said admissions were way behind and that held up nomination process. Same with medicals........So no TWE, still in it. But reach out to their coaches they know....

No mention of waitlist? Did you by chance ask about the May 15th date we have been hearing about?
