Army ROTC 2023-2024 2nd Board

I branched armor this past December.

Absolutely don't lose hope, I literally sat through two full boards on this website without seeing any change to my file while everyone else was celebrating scholarships. I sat through pretty much the whole third one until the end where I was offered a three year and couldn't have been happier.

It's a lot of stress but looking back it's super exciting at the same time.
If you don't mind me asking, what were your stats?

Asking this cause I'm thinking I will probably only be able to get a 3 year on either this or the third board with how I compare to other people and the average applicant.

Thanks. Kind of makes me wonder whether the ROOs at the various school programs can see the board results.

Obviously, Cadet Command HAS the board results, or they wouldn't be exploring "alternative methods" to notify winners.

Is it really that hard to send out a mass email to all scholarship winners from the January board saying, "You have been selected for a scholarship offer. In the days ahead, we will follow up with each winner individually with more details on your specific offer."

Could do similar for those not selected with a mass email saying, "Unfortunately, you were not selected for a scholarship offer in the January board, but you will remain under consideration for the March board."

yeah we will just have to wait until next week or later I probably will still check everyday.

ROOs absolutely have an internal system where they can see the results outside of the portal that we view. That doesn't mean CC has released anything to that site. I would also assume that CC will not allow ROOs to notify anyone directly. The official channel will be from CC to the applicant in some manner (portal, email, God forbid snail mail).

Maybe like the olden days, phone calls 😂

Short answer: ROOs might be able to see board results/offers. A long answer follows...

The scholarship list normally goes through the chain of command first. Brigade Commanders receive and then forward to their respective Professors of Military Science. I always immediately forwarded it to my ROO because he was going to do the actual work with it. The ROO was tracking those most likely to come to our program and would contact them and follow up to make sure they were taking the next steps (like accepting the scholarship). Even if they weren't coming to my program, if they were from the area and/or interviewed with me, we made sure that they knew the next steps to take in the process.

Normally, a few days after it is released through the chain of command, Cadet Command will populate scholarship offers in the Cadet Command Information Management System (CCIMS - which many might be familiar with). This is the system that anyone with access can query. All of my cadre, ROO, and HRA had access to CCIMS.

The scholarship list release and populating the information in CCIMS are not simultaneous, those are sequential. Given the timing of the system being down, anything is speculation right now. It's probably nothing more than there was an attempt to update the website (which is hosted out of Building 6 in the HRC Complex at Knox), but instead, the new update broke everything and they're working to recover from the last working backup (which is maintained in a local backup as well as at two different remote sites).

I hope that is helpful and alleviates some strain on families dealing with FAFSA disasters as well. I'm in the same boat with my oldest kids awaiting scholarship results. 1st board, he was only offered the Military JUCO scholarship. Worst case, he shows up in the fall, enrolls in class, and gets a campus-based 3-year. I was never denied a campus-based 3-year scholarship for a deserving student.

Thank you for that, very informative. How long before the results are released to candidates do the ROOs have the results? (In a normal year)

Thank you for this excellent reply. As much as this unexpected delay has been stressful, I am extremely grateful to the SAF community for its knowledge and support. Having this forum to wait together is a great resource, and I truly appreciate the positive attitudes. The civility I find here comes in stark contrast to so much of what I see online. You are all a breath of fresh air!

FormerPMS is dead on…please be patient. In the past results took 3-4 weeks to be released. The fact that in the last couple years results are being posted 2-3 weeks after the board finishes work is an Improvement, but still not fast enough for you all. Take a deep breath and go for a run.

This is an email that my DS received from a ROO at his #1 school today ...

"I just checked the Army scholarship database and there has been no change. I know the board was held, but we have not heard of any results yet. I am guessing they are hoping the “technical issue” will be resolved soon and everyone will know at the same time. When I hear that the results of the second board are published, I will let you know one way or the other whether you are on it. Sorry for any inconvenience this delay is causing you."

I'm really glad to see we are all seeing the same results still and waiting. My senior is starting to have an attitude change drastically over all this which is not good. We really need to have results soon. Praying we hear something by the end of the week. Keep the faith friends

I hear what you are saying. My DS was just saying tonight how school is kind of a drag. Senior year can be challenging mentally, because you've got one foot in high school but you're so ready to step into the future with that other foot!

These kids have worked hard, and it will be great for them to have some answers and something concrete to get excited about. I Hopefully we will be celebrating with them soon!

🤞
