    Leaving USAFA (Update #2)

Good afternoon, Many of you have seen my posts beforehand and previously thought I have decided to stay, however, life has hit me with a hammer and I need your advice and or help. My grandmother, who has acted as my mother throughout my life, has just been diagnosed with Stage III Uterine...

    Leaving USAFA (Update #1)

Well, recognition has passed. It's quite honestly the biggest flurry of emotions I've ever had in my life. They were the toughest three days I've ever faced in my life, without a doubt, and receiving those prop and wings while walking down the hall made me feel as if I had just walked over the...

    Leaving USAFA

I am finishing the remainder of doolie year following the recommendation of most. I still feel the same to a different extent, but I'm glad I ended up duking it out until now. We'll see where I stand after recognition and approaching the end of the year.

    Leaving USAFA

Yes I was my high school's student representative for two years. I led protests at my school and was connected to my senator's office. I'm not quite sure what your advice entails then. Is experience not the greatest aspect that one can have towards a career goal? What is more valuable in your...

    Leaving USAFA

I was told USAFA was my best option by everyone around me so I thought I would give it my all and see if I would fall in love with it; quite the opposite has happened. Parent's don't exist in my life. I'm not making excuses for my low GPA, I just don't think this place is where I'm going to...

    Leaving USAFA

Good afternoon, after a long time of deliberation since the day I got on the plane for BCT I am pretty sure that USAFA is not for me. i wasn't going to quit during BCT simply because I would look like and feel like a fool. I wasn't going to drop during the first month because it wouldn't be...

    Doolie Year Weekends

I understand there are Blue and Silver weekends; if there is a blue weekend and I wish to leave the academy from Friday night until Sunday afternoon (returning before 7pm) will I be able to do so given that I apply and ask for the paperwork as soon as I possibly can and attempt to remain in good...

    Emotions of a Cadet

For most cadets, what should that thought of why I wanted to come here be? When is it not worth it anymore? How does one determine if it's not worth it anymore?

How do promotions work in the Air Force after Graduation?

You start as a 2nd Lieutenant but after that are promotions simply based on time in the air force? Are there other factors that contribute to promotions?

    Trips while at USAFA?

I will be entering with the class of 2022 and report in on June 28th. I understand BCT and the strenuous school year that is to come, but if there are weekends on occasion that I would like to plan in advance to leave the campus for the weekend (Fri-Sun) how would I go about doing that? What is...

Civilian College & ROTC or USAFA?

You're completely right. One day at a time and enjoy everything alone the way. I'm going to do so at the Academy. I can't go in with an attitude that I'm going to transfer, but I leave my mind open to the opportunity to learn and develop differently than I previously have. I believe attending...

Civilian College & ROTC or USAFA?

I agree with you, I am very narrow minded and focused on self growth. That is why I applied to the Academy, I want to learn about things that I have previously not been exposed to. It would be a learning experience. I'm tired of hearing people say that you have to LOVE the idea of the academy...

Civilian College & ROTC or USAFA?

That is why I believe the USAFA might be the best option. It will allow me to learn about myself and try something completely different from the situation that I'm used to.
