    Thankful for the forums...

Another - Thank you for this post! I cant believe how fast the 4 years have gone by. My DS is graduating, commissioning and headed to TBS - he is hopeful that he gets infantry after TBS. Its amazing how things progress and the worries and concerns from 4 years ago are completely different now...

The Citadel - Fourth Class Recognition Day for Class of 27 & Corps Day Weekend March 23/24

I'm happy to offer some perspective as a parent of a senior. My DS is graduating in May and commissioning into the USMC. Congrats and exciting times for your DS.

Spend the Night with the Corps - Texas A&M

My DS did it back in 2020. It was a great opportunity to see the campus, meet with ROTC staff and current cadets - and get a basic idea about the program. I would highly recommend it if you are seriously considering TAMU.

Medically DQ'ed, struggling with moving on

First off - very sorry for your situation. I am one of the old guys here, but I can 100% relate to your situation, Many moons ago, I was awarded a NROTC-MO scholarship to a SMC. I reported for ROOK week and ended up tearing my ACL. My condition required surgery and I was not able to retain my...

    NROTC - MO

My guess is that he is referring to the official District review Board where the candidates are evaluated for a scholarship. There shouldn't be any other interviews at this point. Best of luck

I don't want to be in the academy anymore, but I also cant leave

All good DS commissions in May and heads to TBS.

    NROTC-MO Board results when?

Results will "trickle" out by District. It is not a uniform process like the other scholarship boards. It has been several years, but the first week of December is when I think my DS was notified. Best of luck.

    NROTC MO chances?

Agree with all the previous posts. I can't remember seeing stats from a MO winner with a PFT in the 250 range. My recollection is the average is in the 270+ range. This is a good time to focus on getting comfortable with pullups and the other PFT components. Should you be awarded the...

    Reapplying/Readmission into The Citadel

My 2 cents - you have a glamourous vision in your head about being a cadet and being at The Citadel. You have gone down the path 2 times and pulled the rip cord on both occasions, in less than a week. Room inspections are the easiest part of being at an SMC. There is nothing glamourous about...

Graduated Advanced Camp (CST 2023) AMA!!!

No questions - proud of you and your journey. You are a great model of perseverance. Best of luck and keep us posted as you continue down the path. My DS is in the same class as you and finished up USMC OCS this past summer. Seems like yesterday when you both for seniors in HS!

Do you still have a chance at becoming a pilot after ROTC?

NROTC-MO/PLC still offer a guaranteed aviation slot assuming you pass the ASTB and pre-flight medical.

    ROTC left over scholarships

Great - congrats to your DS. Norwich is a wonderful school!

    ROTC left over scholarships

Norwich has the most generous financial package of all the SMCs I suggest your DS call the ROO at Norwich and ask. My guess is the VMI scholarship was a campus based offering. Good luck

How many public and private can you list on your Army ROTC application?

Last time I looked at it I believe it is 7 schools. Things could have changed since my DS went thru the process.

Flight School wait steady at 2 years

Agreed - you can almost add a year on for TBS. Assume you have a few months off prior to TBS and a few months off after and you are already in at least 1 year before you even get to Pensacola - best case scenario.

Flight School wait steady at 2 years

I have also heard that the wait is long, especially for USMC aviation. That's the problem - That 8 year commitment is now 13 years. My DS is going USMC aviation and this is a huge concern for him.

    AROTC Waiver thoughts

Ok - a lot of moving parts here. Has he received a waiver from NROTC and SAs? If so he should be fine on his AROTC waiver. If I read your question correctly, he was awarded a 4-YR NROTC Scholarship and received a medical waiver, but wants to accept his 3YR AROTC option? Is that correct.

    NROTC summer commitments?

Yes - NSI is for 4-Year National Scholarship winners. If he is not awarded a scholarship, he will not attend NSI. Best of luck.
