🌟 Happy Holidays, SAF!!

Believe it or not, we are in the depths of a full kitchen remodel. And I’ve been without an oven/stove for THREE MONTHS (somthing wasn’t ordered correctly which has put stuff in a great delay….).

No cooking or baking. Microwave/airfryer/grilling only. And no traditional Christmas meal, here. Plus there are cabinets and tile cutters and ladders and xxx STUFF EVERYWHERE.

I’ve perfected bacon in the microwave.

I was worried until I saw you were still bacon-worthy, a variation on sea-worthy. Whew.

And been there, done that. A memorable event with ours was I had one dedicated deep kitchen drawer with every manual, proof of purchase, warranty, repair record, and invoice or charge slip, for appliances, large or small, in the home, plus all major systems such as HVAC, water purifying system (we have a well), fixtures, the snow blower, etc. I had bagged the contents of each drawer and labeled it, stowing on dining room table. Post-project, I would take a bag and refill a drawer or cabinet. I saved the manual bag for last, because I wanted to go through and delete anything we no longer had. The label had fallen off. I moved it to the kitchen counter near its designated drawer, and went out on a morning errand, planning to finish the drawer refill project on my return. DH thought it was recycle on the counter and helpfully placed it in the recycle bin. That was years ago now, and occasionally he will ask, hey, where’s the manual for X, I need to look up how to do Z. I give him The Look. I was able to get most manuals off the internet if I needed it. Sigh. All that stuff is now in a Rubbermaid tote in the pantry, clearly labeled.

That hits home. As a now empty nester, who has files from preschool days of each child….there is a LOT of purging (and purging projects on the horizon) going on and in cue. We also have the same manuals, etc. So excited to get through it all.

Why is “Happy Holidays” in Off-Topic

The late “Uncle Don” at our little country Church (Doesn’t every little Church have an Uncle Don?) used to say that “Holiday” starts November 1st and ends April 1st …. That’s when his work would stop as a brick mason, and he would start to Hunt, Fish, and Trap …

Five months of Holiday every year …. I like Uncle Don’s version of Holiday …

Merry Christmas to our country's armed forces! 🥳
DD is working as Battle Watch Captain Christmas Eve and Christmas Day monitoring and reporting on all goings on in the Red Sea. DS is hard at work fighting terrorists in Somalia. Merry Christmas to all service members who are spending time away from their loved ones in order to help protect us. May they all return home safely.

Wow, thank you for sharing. Thank your children for their service.

I almost DM'd you a few days ago when I started my "I'm Alive" tour to ask how your kids are doing but didn't want to be intrusive. Now I know.

I also know the immense pride and heavy burden on your heart. Being both proud and concerned for their safety is a lot to bear, but parents who've raised such kids are equipped to handle it. Happy Holidays to you and yours.
