1st and 2nd choices

How often does it occur that someone gets both the first and second choices on their 1-7 list?
 
Often but certainly not always, especially in the later boards (I'm assuming AROTC here). Much has to do with how many scholarship slots are available at the schools of your choice.
 
@kinnem is spot on. I will add one tidbit - If you are awarded a scholarship on the 1st Board, you will most likely get all of your top choices. The 2nd Board - will be a mix. The 3rd Board will also be a mix. The good news is that Cadet Command has, historically, been very accommodating with transfer requests. Good luck.

Spot on. DS did his last spring after the 3rd board. It was transferred in less than a week or so.
 
I got a 4-year to my top 3 in the 3rd board. I actually ended up transferring the scholarship from my first choice to a school that wasn't on my list, and everything ended up fine. Don't worry about it.. they will award you what you are to be awarded. They also shuffle around the scholarships on the 3rd board, I know a good amount of people got upgrades then.
