PS. I applied December 30th

My application read "applicant" until October of last year and I started it in August.

Hey thanks for the advice, I will probably try and apply for the Naval Academy's Summer Seminar if the application is still open. When I apply to go to the Air Force Academy I actually plan on applying for the Naval Academy, as well as the Coast Guard Academy. I have always had a passion for aviation, and my dream is to become a fighter pilot. I've wanted to fly since I was in elementary school. Coast Guard would be my last resort, but I just want to become a pilot even if it means joining the CG (too bad they don't have fighters...)

Half the guys in the Blue Angels didn't even go through an academy, they went to FSU, got an engineering degree, went through Officer Candidate School, then went to Pensacola and started flight training. There are plenty of ways to get inside the canopy, some just take more time than others. Best of luck.

Question for you guys: if they dont "like" an application will they just let it say applicant (your application is under consideration) for months? Mine has said that since about Jan 1. I just want to know already!!

I attended summer seminar last year. I applied around December 16th and received an email on March 15th stating I had to accept or deny the offer by March 29th. I received a rejection email from USNA April 22nd. It's a long process, I know, and it's even longer now that I'm waiting to see whether I'm offered an appointment. You just have to wait, cross your fingers, and do everything you can to succeed in highschool while you have the chance.

The wait is rough, but you just have to stick it out. For the most part, you can find answers to your questions in this thread. Asking when you will be notified won't help you since no one on this forum is on the selection board.

correct me if im wrong, but i dont believe that there have been any new england region acceptances yet

the other interesting thing is, after some research, no one from my entire area (SW VA) that i know of has applied to the AFA SS. I hate waiting, its killing me.

Really quick question for those of you that went last year and are looking at this thread: Does your Liaison officer contact you in any way once you've been accepted to the Summer Seminar? I talked to my friend who went to the SLS last year and he said he got a call a few days after he was accepted.

It depends on who your ALO is. Some are not as involved as others. My assigned ALO never contacted me after I was accepted. I emailed him over the summer to ask him some questions about admissions, but he didn't seem too interested in answering them. I ended up switching ALOs because I knew one from JROTC aviation ground school. He was much more helpful because he knew me personally.

If you have questions, don't hesitate to call your counselor or ALO. You can even ask some questions here and forumers might be able to answer.

Well my application status just changed to Applicant. I've got my fingers crossed, only three days have gone by since I applied, and I'm already REALLY anxious. I can't help but check my application status every thirty minutes or so lol.

Will my status ever change to rejected if I am not selected, or will it just stay as "applicant (your application is under consideration)"?

I've heard in past years they have just left it as applicant, but I'm in the same boat ( mine's said applicant for just over a week now) and I'd really prefer to just be told im rejected then have that false hope.

I am honestly not sure, I would like to know the same thing. Mine has only said applicant for about two and a half days though. I would definitely give it a few more weeks though before assuming that they didn't accept you. I'm sure they have received tons of applications. Just stay hopeful, and good luck to you.

When you are invited to Summer Seminar, it will be through the email address that you provided. Our DS almost missed the acceptance date due to the fact that the email had filtered into his spam folder.

Yes! Check your Spam folder, My son's counselor cautioned him to always check there because, for whatever reason, USAFA generated emails sometimes end up there. I wouldn't be too concerned about not hearing from them yet. It took a while for them to spool up last year after the holidays and they really got cracking with the selections right about now as I recall. This is when my son got his offer and he applied in mid Dec.

Good Luck!

I just got accepted and I applied December 8th. Don't worry if your application status still states that it has not been processed yet. Mine said that for two months. Best of luck to everyone!
