2020 Army/Navy Game top be played at West Point

I just rolled mine, usna, option #2. When I did that, the prompt stated that seats would be assigned according to normal priorities. And to join xxx for better seats. I assume if you don’t join, you are in the nosebleeds. Not sure if that’s the same as it woukd Have been this year as a plebe parent? But...it’s a bucket list for us no matter where we sit.

Hmm...just a wild guess, but suspect that "Plebe Parent" is really low on the priority seating food chain...My parents attended my First Class year, and I almost experienced hypoxia when I went up to visit them in their seats ! It really didn't matter -- attending A-N is one of those things that must be experienced . I'm hoping to get back myself again.

DW used to buss DS before she put him on the school bus every morning. He’s now applying to USNA, and should he win appointment, I wonder how many busses she’ll give him when we drop him off — not at the bus station, but on the Yard.
I hope he gets a buss that only a mother can give and maybe even a little buss from Pops.

We had another “busses” post above where subbing in “kisses” was equally fun.

I know the correct answer is "ask your mid" but just in case you guys have a better ear to the ground - any Intel on the timing of that bus ride back to the yard? Mids released on the 13th for break? 14th?

@BrightSide We have secured early the 13th, late in the day on the 13th (Dant suggested later afternoon 13th leave should be safe, no official decision yet however. And it could always change), and also morning of the 14th. All refundable or with points (refundable). We will cancel whatever they don’t use (I have two travelers, so need to keep a handle on this).

If you can secure refundable tickets, those are your best bets! And imo, it’s a good idea to get them now as they will go fast when leave is official. Seats will go, and prices will skyrocket the closer you get.

BTW...no one guessed so I’ll provide the answer:

167-ish.

🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌 I give up....
I do hope somone gets drone footage of that. Seriously fascinating.

It’s also estimated to be a 17-18 hr long day. *yawn*

Driving up from Naptown to Philly for the game two years ago, we left about 10 minutes later than planned, while the Mid motorcade left about an hour later than planned. So when we hit a highway fork coming together about 25 miles south of Philly, we were forced to stop and wait while who knows how many — dozens! — of busses loaded with mids got priority. We sat at that fork for at least 10 minutes, watching them all cruise by. It was quite the scene.

Cuomo has no jurisdiction over WP.
I’m disappointed my A/N tickets will be useless this year, but extremely excited that it’s being played at the USMA!!
I will tailgate with other parents outside the gate and bring my Cadet home the next day.
Should be an amazing game played at the best location!
Yep, I was gonna go to the game and fly our Cadet home with us. Tailgate with the other Dad's, watch the big show. Hoping against hope.... Made all the reservations hoping that fans would be permitted.

Been a long time since we've seen her.

Well dang....

And just think that was probably only half the Brigade as many Mids ride up with friends and take weekends! It is a sight to see. Not sure if the Dant or Supt might give some leeway to 1/C and 2/C to drive POVs. It’s either that or the entire Brigade by bus which is probably close to 90 buses???? I am guessing it’s around ~50 Mids/bus? A company is probably around ~140-150 these days???? So 3 buses/company x 30 companies is roughly 90 buses. Throw in the travel party for the Supt, football team, cheer team, D&B, it’s gonna be around 100 buses total headed to West Point over that weekend. It will be a long day, but Mids will accept the challenge of demonstrating their ability to sleep anywhere, anytime!

DH tells me - before his time - it used to be a special train. If you’ve ever run/walked the Baltimore-Annapolis Trail, “B&A Trail,” that is the old railbed for the spur line to connect up with main Northeastern corridor line out of Baltimore. They all went by special train. Since no mids had cars, that must have been equally amazing.
I expect the SECNAV and Supe had a senior officials’ car.

My immediate mental image was “how many kisses (synonym “busses”) would this take,” and I found the image delightful.

Deciding I needed further education on “buses” vs “busses,” I found this. Most enlightening.
I no longer legitimize Merriam-Webster since they made IRREGARDLESS a word this year. Boo hiss.

Also, it’s at MetLife Stadium in ‘21 instead of PHL. Wonder why? Isn’t it always in PHL??
How did you roll it over? I don't recall seeing instructions?

This has the potential to be a very long trail of tears for the mid
Never count your chickens before they hatch... records mean nothing going into the Army-Navy game. In addition, with the depth (or lack thereof) of most Service Academy teams, one critical injury can change the entire look of either of the teams.

It was a separate email that came, with the three options. You click and select, and receive notification of your choice.

Thanks - last email I got was on 10/23 and it ended with "We are working today to create clear direction as it pertains to your designating one of the options above. Our ticket office will be in contact with you shortly to solicit your decision and how you would like to apply or address your ticket purchase." Thoughts?

I found the email! Thanks so much for bringing it to my attention!
