Personally, pack as little as you can - consider buying the bags that you can vacuum to minimize space - towels take up big space - try to fit everything into one bag/suitcase and a backpack. You can always send up socks in the mail during Indoc or bring them with you at parents weekend. If it's not in the logging in book I would give serious consideration of not packing/taking it - sports equipment, Bible (other religious book) excluded. If you do not want to pack towels, when you order the kit from the NEX, call them and ask for extra PT t-shirts and even towels to be included in the kit for your DD/DS - at least the NEX used to do that. You will hear from your DD/DS that they would like this or that after they get there. Are you talking about wearing them under dress socks? Can you give them black dress socks that have better wicking qualities but still meet the requirements?
MY PERSONAL OPINION - Get your DD/DS a CREDIT CARD now... NOT a Debit Card - Credit Card is not attached to your checking account (they will get a debit card from Navy FCU when they join it) - a debit card is attached and if the debit card is compromised they (crook/bad guy) can drain your checking account $$ - yes you will probably get your $$ back but in the mean time you are without funds to buy/pay for stuff - with a Credit Card you still have your funds in your account and you dispute the charge and do not have to pay and you are not out any $$. Just recently Wendy's and Chipotle were breached and people's accounts were compromised - and now inconvenienced with missing $$ and have to wait for a new debit card - Again MY OPINION ONLY
