2022 Navy Football Uniform

I love it. DS called to say he watched an Astro alumnus spend close to 2k on spirit gear today. He said the mid store was unhinged.

I love that a different aspect of what USNA does is being showcased. Many a MIDN has executed a research project and several of those have gone on to be actual orbited projects, designs that become real for the private sector.

And to be fair that initial unveiling of the Space Force uniforms was a huge debacle. Memes are still circulating.

We may not be the Space Force, but our initial uniform debut is killing it. And we support every aspect of what NASA does. Go NAVY!! BEAT ARMY!!!

Why honor … ???

Maybe Surveillance … knowing more than our enemies know … Eyes in the Sky’s (and ears on the ground) …. Those little eyes and little ears are “Very Cost Effective” …. It’s working in Ukraine …

If Putin or Xi want to go Toe-2-Toe … they will loose … but it will be really messy … and nobody wants that … It’s easier and cheaper to reign them in and steer them “toward the light” by “nudging” things along

… and we “Will” make things right

I think they are beautiful, but was a bit perplexed upon the reveal yesterday. My fav thus far, has been the Marine one. That makes sense, to me.

They have only payed homage to their own roots since I have been involved. So this shout out was different. No matter, they are beautiful, if confusing. Showed a couple people and they said “why space??”

After the last couple games, looking for a W coming up in a few weeks!!! Last years W was super exciting! This year would also have that same feel, after the improvements and upsets of late!!

GO NAVY!!

Could be the excitement of the Artemis launch and the Academy has had the most astronauts that have served? The Navy has always played a big part in the space program with launch recovery activities and the amount of pilots who came up through the program.

Our Wallops Flight Facility (NASA's Goddard - WFF) on the eastern shore of VA is not only a launch range for smaller rockets, but an active airfield with Navy personnel on site. At one of my trainings there, during a break I went and sat by the flight line as some Hawkeyes were practicing touch-and-go's. Being an aircraft mechanic from my time in the enlisted ranks, I really missed the sights, sounds, and smells of a flightline. It made me so happy. :D

Cool, but why honor something that isnt the Navy?

There have been more Naval and Marne Corps officers in space then Air Force and Army.

I love them. I like the nod to the astronauts from USNA. I also like that research is currently being done by MIDN for use in space. My DS has been working on one for a year.

The Astro majors were super happy yesterday according to my DS. And I'm sure plenty of Astro major alumni work in the space industry.

Also, I just like that we nailed the space-themed uniform. I mean Space Force had the biggest flop of all reveals with their daily uniforms. They were ghastly.

I also like the story behind each detail. The cleats are meant to look like moon boots and the side of the cleat is meant to represent stars. They are so cool!!

Plenty of all majors work in the space industry. One of my roommates was a Latin American Area Studies major and was President of
a major corporate rocket division for one of the major companies. I know one former astro major who just finished a tour as Chief Engineer of a Submarine.

That makes sense to me, they all graduate with a STEM degree.

A good friend of mine was a P-3 NFO after graduating from the Academy. Got out, got married, got a job in the private sector working in construction project management, then got into the US Army Corps of Engineers, where I was working at the time.

When I left for NASA, I lobbied my bosses hard and "recruited" him and some others to come to the Agency to work in the facilities management team with me (I was an architect by trade, so managed the design and construction team for the Center). He finally got in, actually taking one of my old positions.

I moved on, got into the spaceflight side of the business, and lobbied hard to get him to come over to that side as well. He's now an observatory manager on a heliophysics mission.

(Then again, my Directorate boss is an Air Force Academy grad. So was my old Directorate boss in the other group I started with).
