Can anyone confirm the dates for Class 2025 A - Day weekend? Thanks in advance.
Thank you!A Day is Saturday, August 14, 2021
Last year, no. Hopefully, this year. Were parents able to come?
I heard through the grapevines that it would be the full six weeks. However, that might also change due to circumstances with Covid-19.I know last year's CBT was only 4 weeks because of Covid. I wonder if they might shorten it again and thus A day may change??
I think it will be "more normal". They've had more time to "wargame" different COVID scenarios.I heard through the grapevines that it would be the full six weeks. However, that might also change due to circumstances with Covid-19.
Where can I find these important dates is there a calendar out?A Day is Saturday, August 14, 2021
If you go to the Thayer Hotel website, under USMA incoming class of 2025 you will find several important dates. They are in regular communication with USMA leadership so these dates are reliable. Of course any date is subject to change, especially in this covid environment, but this is the plan and these are solid dates to work off of. With all things Army, just remain flexible.Where can I find these important dates is there a calendar out?
Sorry for the thread derail, but am I the only one who read this and in the back of my mind repeated:these same three questions will be asked upon check-in to all guests
The parent's page of Facebook for the class of 2025 said there was going to be a meeting this week to determine the calendar for 21-22. So I expect that calendar to be out shortly. And yes I have heard 14 August for A day also. Can anyone confirm the dates for Class 2025 A - Day weekend? Thanks in advance.
When my DD had to read “Le Morte D’Artur” for junior high I had her watch this movie so she could get a true understanding of Malory’s work.Sorry for the thread derail, but am I the only one who read this and in the back of my mind repeated:
1. What is your name?
2. What is your quest?
3. What is the velocity of a laden sparrow in flight?

U will kill yourself trying to figure out the details with covid. Stop for ur sanity. Start planning in May for Rday—- way too many moving partsTigerDad, great question. The answer, as best I can tell, is absurd (one test regime, ok, but that plus 3 day quarantine and an additional test regime?)
And sorry in advance for the long post
This from the New York Department of Health website (https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/system/files/documents/2020/11/interm_guidance_travel_advisory.pdf)
The following applies to all Cadet families who do NOT live in states contiguous to NY (PA, NJ, CN, MA, VT)
“1. For travelers who traveled outside of New York for more than 24 hours, such travelers must obtain testing within 72 hours prior to arrival in New York,
AND
2. Such travelers must, upon arrival in New York, quarantine according to Department of Health guidelines, for a minimum of three days, measured from time of arrival, and on day 4 may seek a diagnostic test to exit quarantine.
For travelers that meet the criteria above, the traveler may exit quarantine upon receipt of the second negative test result.”
This means arriving in NY at least 4 days prior to R-Day (including requisite lodging/meal expensives). Plus, my research thus far shows that Rapid-Tests run $200+, so for a family of 3 (DS,DW, self), that’s 6 tests ($1,200+)
I would love to think accommodations might be possible, or that “things” may change between now and then, but given R-day is just over 4 months away, it seems more and more like wishful thinking
My questions are:
A) Does entry into West Point for R-day require:
1) proof of negative test for each person entering for R-Day?
2) proof of 3 day quarantine and 2nd negative test for persons entering West Point from states non-contiguous to NY?
B) Does the Thayer Hotel require the same? Is quarantining at the Thayer even -possible (cost would be insane) given you have to enter through Thayer Gate in order to get to the hotel?
C). What if you just drive into West Point from outside of NY (Connecticut for example) early on R-Day. Is proof of a negative test result within the last 72 hours still required?
Steakth_81 and UHBlackhawk. The post was a sincere attempt to inform others who might have the same questions while also supporting my DS. Apologies that you found it only worthy of snide ramblings. I thought this forum was made up of military professionals seeking to support some incredible youth. Clearly the mistake was mine in not recognizing my post was only worthy of your mockery. Good job putting me in my placeWhen my DD had to read “Le Morte D’Artur” for junior high I had her watch this movie so she could get a true understanding of Malory’s work.
Her English teacher later informed me that she couldn’t hold it together when DD started quoting the movie in class. It was an inside joke the rest of the class didn’t understand.
To be fair, I did have her watch “Excalibur” as well.
Now the topic is truly highjacked.
