4-Year NROTC Scholarship Acceptance Thread

Just for an update in case anyone might be interested. Through a collaborative effort of Navy Captains and Civil Service employees finding the Admiral in one place for a few minutes, the results from last week's board have been approved.

Next step is building out the list of emails for announcements, and also loading the results into the database. Keebler's elves are hard at work, but I can't predict when things will show up. It could be in a couple hours, but it could be this evening or tomorrow morning. But it will be soon, and certainly well in advance of a May deadline.

In terms of alternates, that information will also be forthcoming. I honestly do not know if there will be two emails or one big one, but that is being worked. A few of you keep independent statistics on these things, so I can mention that there were just over 150 alternates that moved up.

So for those of you with zero patience, feel free to call up the webpage and mouse click until your fingers are numb. But I would take a guess that by 1600 eastern time we might see things populating. (I hope I didn't just jinx it)

Good Luck!
Awesome update..Thank you. Let the melting down of the portal update webpage begin:)

Picturing this as where you found the Admiral "in one place for a few minutes".
None of us have the courage to venture there. There is much power from a "star" and we do not wish to feel the heat from the bright light. But, if someone stands in line long enough at the deli counter, they are fair game.

@GWU PNS thank you for taking the time to give us an update. I do have one question that just popped in my brain. I believe there have been 4 to 5 boards since the application deadline. So, since Jan 31st there haven't been any new applications - correct? So even with last week's board, they were reviewing applications submitted before Jan 31st? Which means ... and correct me if I'm wrong ... just because the portal may say "No decision" doesn't necessarily mean the application has been reviewed and it is in alternate status. Am I on the right track?

@GWU PNS - Does "over 150 alternates that moved up" mean that they will be offered a scholarship?

The applications that had no mathematical chance to get a scholarship have already been sent a TWE. If the portal says "no decision" than they are a alternate. Now not all alternates will get awarded a scholarship today or any day. But there is still a chance

I did not ask that specific question, but in the past, moving up referred to moving above the cut line. So I believe that is what's meant there, but we will find out within the next 24 hours.

The "No Decision" status can mean several things depending on where we are in the scholarship season. In the early stages, it literally means, no one has made a decision about the package. It does not indicate whether or not a board got to review it. As the season wears on, it tends to mean that the record was likely reviewed by a board, but a selection decision was not reached. That package could wind up being an alternate, or may wind up getting a non select letter.

Also, once in a while, a record comes in front of a board and there is a missing signature, or a missing date, or something else that needs to be corrected. Last year, a candidate somehow managed to find someone who made them do a full Navy PRT, which included a mile and a half run. That's isn't per the regs, so that needed to be corrected.

Bottom line at this point, is that every record that has been properly submitted, has been reviewed by a board. So, once this final announcement comes out, this should be the end of the season unless we find there was a mistake (very very rare, but no system is perfect)

@GWU PNS with 150 alternates moving up, any chance you can give us overly anxious parents an idea of how many alternates there were so we can gauge our chances?

Thanks for all of your updates!

If you mean the total pool of alternates and the non selected, that number is somewhere around 350. I don't get to see all of those on the non selected list.

I love getting this info...Still trying to decide if I like the numbers or not. Really shows if you are a glass half full or half empty type of mentality. Be careful what you wish for

They are still working on emails. Just lots of things going on up in great lakes. I was hoping end of day we would see something but it will likely be tomorrow. Sorry to get hopes up but there seemed to be momentum from earlier this morning.
