500 USMA Appointments Mailed Out Today

Man, I'm sure it's not healthy for me to obsess over these kind of posts.. but congratulations to all those accepted!! One question: did you guys (those accepted) do the interview with your liaison officer? I don't see a spot on the application where it needs to be checked off so I wasn't sure if it's required or not.. thanks!

This is totally old-school when we used to wait by the mailbox for our college acceptances/denials back in the day.

Didn't have email or portals. Just waiting for the mailman.
@Padre101, I was thinking the very same thing! But, for some reason, I remember the waiting, and expecting, being a little bit more "fun" than this process has proved to be! I guess when you are young, you just sort of "know" everything will turn out as it's supposed to turn out.

Also, I am so impressed with any MOC that took the time to notify their applicant of an appointment given the business of DC at the moment! Hoping for a BFE for my DS tomorrow. This waiting process is not for the weak, is it!????

Hello all - new to this site. I'm a grad. Youngest son applying to academy. We live in MA - no congressional or senator noms done up here yet. Today, my son noticed a green check mark in nomination box on portal - says President (or I think maybe an abbreviation) - and a date - Jan 18. we have received no mailing, or email, etc on this. Anyone know what that means?

That means that WP has verified that a nomination has been secured through a Presidential Nomination. The date is the verification date.

Is he eligible for Presidential nomination? Son of career military perhaps?

Wow! Thank you - great news. The congressional and senatorial nominations are slower up here.

Yes - I'm a grad - 5 years active, but did over 20 total with reserve time. The admissions officer sent him and email a few weeks ago, and asked him to send in my DD214 (reflecting my service) - that must have been why.

That is exactly why...congratulations to your son!

My liaison officer reached out to me to do an interview at the end of September 2016. It's not required though by any means so there is no space on the portal for it.

Any good news??? Nothing yet here, the mail just came and nada. I think our mailman is thinking I've lost it! Lol! I guess I shouldn't be surprised, we weren't expecting anything until Friday at the earliest. I got hopeful when I saw a couple appointments from Ca. This. Is. Excruciating. [emoji30]

My DD, from Southern California (CA-39) got hers this afternoon. BFE was not in the mailbox. Mailman left BFE in front our door coz it can't be folded. We normally don't enter in the front door.

Our son's arrived yesterday, mailman brought to door. Question: on the inner flap of the Priority Mail envelope as a #XX (two digit number) hand written. Does that mean anything to anyone? Also, I have seen Air Force Academy valued its degree at $534,XXX. Does anyone know what WP has for its comparable value? USCGA told us $450,000. Thanks in advance and good luck to all.

We noticed the numbers too. DS's said #17. Not sure what it means but we were curious as well.

Probably just something to help them get the right appointment packet in the right pre-addressed envelope. Think of that envelope sitting there in a bin with the flap open. If you're stuffing envelopes, it's quicker to see a number than look down and read the address. Just a guess though.
