Does USMMA send out rejection letters/emails/portal status changes if not accepted?

and

Is hold status better than "app on file" at this point? (in terms of admission chances)

Hold status is better than app on file status. Hold means you are qualified for admission, while app on file means just what it says. In past years, admissions has sent out rejection letters to hold candidates, but things change from year to year. Remember that most offers come in the March/April time frame, with a significant number coming after the national May 1 acceptance deadline. Hang in there!

How does it work if you have to accept ROTC scholarship to a designated school by the May 1st deadline, but the USMMA offers me an appointment after I have already picked a school, can I still accept the appointment?

Both of my boys did this. Accepted ROTC scholarships and then eventually let them know they were attending a SA. If I recall, it says In the ‘fine print’ that accepting doesn’t preclude from accepting a SA appointment. Something to that effect. Additionally, ROTC is non binding until you show up for your sophomore year. You can walk away.

There is lots about this on the forums. Search/Google for more discussion if you are interested. Many (both of mine) keep ROTC as an option, in case something happens and they cannot attend the SA (and still can ROTC). Or if they aren’t sure. Or whatever reason.

Read your offer, but it should address this in the details.

Congrats, and good luck!!

So technically, if one is not put on hold, he/she will know that he/she has been rejected if they are not appointed/waitlisted by April 1st, right?

Not necessarily . . . For example in the Class of 2022 I had two Candidates (one App on File, One Hold) that each received an Appointment after June 1st. Patient is a VIRTUE. Hang in there.
In the meantime try to distract yourself by working out . . . I'll attach the suggested workout program for Indoctrination.
