Hi,
A couple of my family members from overseas will wish to see me when I'm a cadet at USAFA. They will not be able to come to America during Parents Weekend due to scheduling conflicts, but they will be able to attend on A-Day.

What are the exact dates for A-Day, so we can purchase tickets to Colorado in advance and book lodging?
I know that they will only be able to see me for about 2 - 3 hours if any at all.
Does anyone have more information on what visitors will be doing?

Thanks in advance! :thumb:

It's the day before classes start. Which means, if i'm not mistaken, that it will be Wednesday, August 3rd for "A-Day". Classes start on the first Thursday of August. Which is the 4th this year. Hope this helps.

P.S. Just an FYI: Parents/friends generally have a couple hours that they can spend with their cadets after the recognition ceremony. However; this is never guaranteed. Sometimes, there is a cadet who has something scheduled for them right after the Acceptance ceremony. So while it's almost guaranteed, the keep word is ALMOST.

Depending on where they are coming from, your family may want to reconsider coming at a different time. A-Day is pretty hectic and like CC said, "Nothing is a guarantee". After flying in from CT, I had exactly 1.5 hours with my cadet on A-Day.

Maybe a weekend in the fall would be better. Your family could attend a home football game (tailgating with CC at Thudgate!!!) and then spend some quality time with you afterwards and on Sunday.

Good luck.

I second pinkharley's suggestion of trying to pick another weekend after Parent's Weekend. Even if you were allowed more time with your family on Acceptance Day, you really don't even have since you also have briefings and have to get all your supplies for class the next day.

Thanks for the responses.
My relatives would only be able to come during the summer and have to leave before September. If by the chance that I am too busy to be with them then they will still be able to see Colorado.
