Any suggestions on a good source/review of how the AD OML works? How points are earned by students? When I commissioned (back in '89) we had zero insight into this process - it was just do good on the APFT, get a 4 or 5 at Advanced Camp, get a good PMS recommendation and get good grades. I'm interested in peeking behind the curtain and understanding the system. Thanks!
Any guess where the AD cutoff will be for AROTC AD this year? What was it last year? Thanks.
I just noticed looking at the FY2016 Model that the Cum. GPA is now minus the ROTC GPA, Is that new for last year? My younger son commissioned in 2015 under the old OML system and the GPA included all classes, although they did have a section where they broke out just the ROTC GPA, but the overall GPA included ROTC. I guess it works out in the end since it probably effects most all the cadets the same.
Yeah, they started this last year.
Seems like last year just over 3500 got AD.
That was down about 300 from the previous year or two.
But the number of commissioning cadets was lower also.
I think those numbers are a bit high.
For the class of 2015 there were 2893 cadets selected for Active Duty.
Well that's what I get for running off memory..
I guess that means maybe my wife was right a few times....................Haha, I had to stop doing that a while ago.
Thanks for clarification!SMC graduates with PMS recommendation get AD if they want it regardless of OML.
I think that if a graduate is too low they would one of those that is not recommended.
I spoke with the PMS at the SMC my son attends regarding this two weeks ago.
He indicated they tend to get rid of those guys ( and gals) before it comes down to having to not recommend.
But every year there are a few that hang on and do not get recommended.
Also some "choose" NG/AR when it becomes clear they will not be recommended.
That being said last year 85ish Cadets below the line got AD on the strength of the PMS recommendation.
