Admissions process questions

My young skywalker @Vitalzt, I try to lighten the mood as much as I can while sharing information that i believe is useful on SAF, and you compare me with the person who created an account, got angry, made 60 posts, and got banned, all in one day. :screwy:
NO, I wasn't comparing you with him ktnatalk, I just meant to say he was also funny but obviously in a different way

I really like these forums. Great people who share a lot of common interests. My only slight criticism is that there could be a bit more levity. Some folks are a bit serious. I like it when some break it up with jokes and some sarcasm. So keep it up kinatalk. But it might be that young Skywalker was joking too. Not sure, but I think he was just laughing at Bobby.

Playing sports is important because it's a team actively and every thing about USNA is team focused. That said playing multiple varsity sports does not mean much in itself. What is key is being a captain or co-captain on a team sport. Your whole person score will be better playing 1 sport but you were the captain and demonstrated true leadership than if you played 5 sports with no leadership. Play sports because you want to not because you have to. Along that line, it's ok to play a sport and have fun with no leadership but find that leadership experience somewhere else in the form of a club, student government or other activities.

I would agree 100% if team captains were like they were when I was growing up in Ohio. The last 20 years having my kids go threw athletics in Florida, 90% of their teams were "Captain of the game" or "Captain of the week". I think it goes back to the whole "everybody gets a trophy for participating " culture. So yes, my kids were team Captains and can say so with all fidelity but it's not like THE team captain because they don't have them anymore. Only my daughter's soccer team recognized one team captain all season long.

It could be related to population size too. My kids high school has more students than the college I went to! - I'm on a rant today! - being one of say 15 varsity volleyball players in a high school of 4,000 is more difficult to achieve than a high school of 500. The population impacts class rank too. I'm glad USNA asks class size in conjunction with class rank.
