I am currently a sophomore graduating in 2022. My GPA is 4.4677 and I have a class rank of 3/409. I just finished a dual enrollment college algebra class with an A and am starting a pre-calculus class through dual enrollment next semester. I am also in AICE classes through Cambridge University which gets me college credit. I am in my schools Math National Honor Society and MCJROTC. I am the S1 in the MCJROTC program which is a staff position and I should be moving to other leadership positions as I continue through high school. I am also in my MCJROTC program's academic, inspection, exhibition, and drill teams which we practice after school. I am joining my school's tennis team as soon as the season starts. I just wanted to know if there anything else I can do at the moment to improve my chances of getting in. I know the academy accepts some AP scores but would they value AP much higher than dual enrollment classes or about the same. I also know the academy likes athletics. Does it matter if they are a team sport or more of an individual sport? I also heard it was better to be more involved in less programs than trying to manage many activities, To what extent would this be true and would it be beneficial to try and join the National Honor Society and/or the Civil Air Patrol?

Thank you for any information.

Yes to National Honor Society as its not a big time drain. Civil Air Patrol and MCJROTC are in the same lane, lots of kids have access to one or enve none of them and still get in, I'd suggest sticking with the one where you are already on the leadership track. Maybe one more sport, tennis is a spring sport in most places. Unless you are an elite tennis player who is competing year round, I'd suggest a fall sport, maybe Cross Country or Soccer.
The choice between Dual Enrollment and AP is yours to make and either should help at a similar level.

Hi!

All looks good...so I'm going to address CAP. I've been a member of CAP for...45 years next month. I joined in High School. My school did not have JROTC. I loved it, still love it, and find it's a great way to learn leadership, to practice leadership, and to grow your maturity.

That being said, so is MCJROTC. In pretty much all the same ways.

So...unless CAP is something that really interests you, I would say stick with JROTC and excel there! If you are interested in CAP, then check it out, it's a pretty awesome organization and the cadet program is superb. Do not join CAP just to make your application "look" better...if you aren't interested in it, you won't do as much, and it'll show.
