Hello everyone, I'm currently heading into my MS2 year and I have an issue to address heading into this year.

So this summer I attended a party with one of my college friends out of town. I'm not much of a partier, especially since I don't want to get in trouble with rotc but I decided to go to make my friend happy. So this party is in a pretty big field in the middle of nowhere, (my friend lives out in the country) and I see this guy who seems to be abusing his girlfriend. She's crying and he slaps her in the face. I yell at him to stop it and he comes over and starts screaming at me. He starts to throw a punch at me and I dodge him and punch him back. By the time this happens, his buddies come over and tackle me to the ground. And the jerk of a boyfriend takes out his lighter and presses it against my back in two spots. My friend and I soon left the party (he didn't know these group of guys) and now I'm left with two strange but identical scars on my back.

Maybe I'm overthinking this whole incident, but I'm worried if I might get in trouble for this. After all there's no evidence to back me up besides my friend and I don't want the army to think I possibly self harmed myself or got into a domestic dispute which was clearly not my fault.

Perhaps I'm overthinking, I hope I am. But I don't want two stupid scars on my back from ruining my future in rotc and the army. Something I have been looking forward to for so long.

Thanks everyone

Complete non issue. Put it out of your head and move on to something important...like when is the pga championship going to restart or what you are going to have for dinner.

And I am left feeling very sad for a young woman whose boyfriend hits her, attempts to hit a stranger, gets his friends to take the stranger down and then burns the stranger. Assaults all around. I hope she gets herself out of that unhealthy situation.

Good for you when seeing something, you did something, instead of just watching or turning a blind eye. If her relationship has escalated to public physical abuse, I cannot imagine what she deals with in private. I hope she sees the signs more and more posted in public restrooms with the number for abuse hotlines.

I would not. Most likely, you have been advised to notify them about situations involving law enforcement, traffic violations, etc. I doubt they told you to report altercations and disagreements with others.

Would you recommend me telling my Cadre about the incident this summer or precede on like nothing happened?

I would advise you to move on with your life. This isn't the last time you'll party and it won't be the last time you fight. Save the cadre telling for a good story to back up the bruises. You did the right thing, just move on.

I'll tell you what I tell my soldiers (because fights happen): 1) Don't lose. 2) Try not to go to jail. Number 1 is embarrassing and number 2 means I have to come pick you up.

Fights happen for sure. Love your guidance Bull - especially #1. Sometimes you win the fight and still end up in jail. That is a better situation somehow. ;)

I believe it was Chesty Puller who said , " take me to the brig and show me some real Marines!

As a former MP if taken to the station cause your wife kicked your butt for having a girlfriend and the MPs are being cool letting you wait for your 1sgt to come get you and take you to the barracks DON'T take the moment the desk Sgt and couple people in the station are trying to get a hedgehog out from under a heater as a time to sneak out.. cause THEN we gotta ask your wife who your girlfriend is and we will find you under the bed and now your 1sgt is gonna be EVEN MORE pissed that he left his family to get a room set up for you and came to get you and now finds out you are going to be in longer than just a night and he is gonna have to go all the way to Coleman to get you when you are released...Not that you would do that..

And this is the first time the word of the day has ever been used on these forums (according to search).

I didn't even know it was the WOTD that was a true story from Mannheim back when there was still a Macht's Nichts intersection Those there before the circle will get it LOL
