So does anyone have any idea when EA's are going to be released this year? Is it normally around the spring like March? Anyone have any ideas if the numbers are going to be better or worse than last year? Thank you!

I don't believe nominations have even went in yet so it's hard to tell what it will look like. So far all we've been told is that anything could happen given the fluctuation over the years.

The nominations don't go in until early February. Last year's selection rate was about 60% but the year before was 90%. It also sounds like there will be more nontech than typical this year. If it isn't pushed back like last year we expect to hear sometime in March.

Last year we were supposed to hear about EAs around spring break, March 22 i think. Didn't hear anything until the week before finals, very late in April. If your lucky you might only have to wait about 2 weeks after whatever date they tell you, which seems to be the norm for past years. Don't hold your breath though. Our year was particularly tough, I don't think anyone has had to wait as long as we have before, but this is still the military. The chances of them releasing anything on the day they say they will are extremely slim.

hopefully, for my sake, he had some factual information to base this on and is correct with his statement

I would not expect to hear anything on the date they say they will release them. The question will really be if they force the rated option again. They did have an insanely non-tech non-rated selection last year. If I recall it was 17%. It might be that the forcing of the rated paperwork had created problems for when they met the rated board. Overwhelmed by the size of the pool because for most posters here stated that in their unit almost everyone signed due to fear of not getting SFT.
~ That increases also how many kids they have to get through the TBAS.

There is really nothing you can do, but wait it out until the spring.

Good luck.

Like Pima said there is nothing we can do. We just have to wait. Just as we will wait for the rated boards, our AFSC's, and bases. It's never fun but in the end it seems to always work out.

so Pima are you saying that chances are it wont be as "harsh" as last year?

Just as Pima said, just wait it out until spring. I went through FT this past summer and I remember about this time I joined this forum looking for answers when EAs would come out and what the chances look like. In reality, there is no way of knowing until they actually come down from HQ. Try not to get your hopes too high or low with what you hear because things can change in the blink of an eye.

I know with my class we were supposed to know by mid march but did not hear anything until the end of April, then I did not hear I was going to Max 1 until a week before I left so be ready for anything. Also, Pima is correct about the non-tech/non-rated. Last year the selection rates were as follows:

2,650 cadets nominated
1,590 selected
1,060 non-selected

Overall Select Rate: 60%
Tech Select: 65.5%
Rated Selects: 60.4%
Non-Tech/non-rated select: 17%
Nurse Select Rate: 43%

Select Averages:
CGPA: 3.38
SAT/ACT: 1287/27
PFT: 96.8

Also, remember, academics comes first. If you receive below a 2.5GPA this coming semester, you will not contract in the fall and actually have the chance of having your EA revoked. Studying your FT manual is important but academics is way more important.
