AFROTC EA's Are Out Now

Here are some stats that just dropped.

Quick Stats:

Selects Non-Selects Overall

Select Rate 88.8% 11.2% N/A

Avg PFA 94.71 91.37 94.34

Avg CGPA 3.240 2.840 3.195

100% at my son's det. Since 88% is the average, there must some some detachment that are getting low percerntages to compensate for the higher percentages

We had 14/15 get selected. There are 20/21 200s but the AFOQT and medical issues took the rest out of nomination.

How did the one guy who didn’t get selected take it?

Better question how does a college student not pass the AFOQT

The AFOQT is a 4 part exam like the ACT, but a cadet that is a non-tech might not pass the pilot/nav portion because that is just not their cup of tea, but that is part of the exam. Additionally they also said medical issues. It might have been not just the AFOQT (low score, but passing), it may have been the combination of both a low AFOQT and the need for a DoDMERB waiver.

The cadet who didn't get selected was actually a 250 who was on the mediocre/average side. I'm not in that class so I haven't talked to him about it, but I've heard he's not trying for a 500 year.

Out of the other five or six cadets that didn't get nominated, we had two that couldn't pass the AFOQT and two that got medically DQ'd for one reason or another. As for the rest, I don't know what their story is, but they probably just didn't meet the minimum requirements. I know this because our Commander has adopted the philosophy that if you have a pulse and meet the minimums, he's going to nominate you.

Since I've been in ROTC, I've known five cadets that failed the AFOQT both tries, so it happens more than you would think. Typically they just get caught up on one section of it. Personally, I didn't find it too difficult. I studied for about an hour total and scored in the 60s and 70s on everything. I don't know whether it's the time pressure or just poor test taking skills, but it does happen.

I forget that the Pilot and Navigation sections are liable to to mess up people
