This was posted by agalages on the AFA forums.
"We have received adjusted rated quotas significantly lower than expected. The rated demand for the Class of 2014 exceeds the amount of pilot slots allocated, for this reason there will be a waiting list for pilot."

I wonder if:
A. They will now come back and take some AFROTC slots away.
B. They will cut FY15's class for rated.
C. They will cancel the rated OCS boards
D. How long on casual status FY14 will be before going to UPT, or if they are even going to give them casual status option instead of just delaying their RNLTD for 9 + months to save money.

Have any AFROTC cadets heard anything from their dets?

I heard the same thing from a niece at USAFA last night. I don't have details but can confirm the pilot slot decrease.

As of last night, she hadn't heard the exact numbers yet. Just referenced agalages' cited email.

It worked for me.

It is dated 16 Aug

1. The Rated Continuation Board and the Supplemental Board for FY13 Pilot, RPA, CSO, ABM, and Euro-NATO
Joint Jet Pilot Training (ENJJPT) categorization is scheduled to be held on 12 Sep 13.
NOTE: AFROTC is currently short of its goal for FY14 rated quotas. For the purpose of this board, you are
authorized to submit all volunteers for rated service. Candidates must meet minimum qualificat ions for POC
membership or commissioning even if they do not meet the minimum qualifications to be nominated.
2. CONTINUATION BOARD. Cadets who were nominated and considered during Rated Categorization in the
spring term of 2013 but had not yet been to FT will have their FT scores added to their previous board scores. No
other factors will be changed, except for those with a new PCSM (Pilot Candidate Select ion Model) score
subsequent to retaking the TBAS (Test of Basic Aviation Skills). The rated slots held out in the Spring 2013 board
will then be backfilled.
3. SUPPLEMENTAL BOARD. Cadets who have already been nominated since the Rated Categorization board
(last spring) have been put in a queue and will be added to the alternate list commensurate with their order of merit.
Detachments may still nominate cadets for this board through 6 Sep 13.

Here is the big key word...rated. It doesn't say pilot. It could be RPA, CSO or ABM, which would not shock me since they are now giving CSO/ABM scholarships.

Hmmm. Works when I click on it. Anyways, here's a picture:

If you can't read that it basically says that AFROTC doesn't have enough people for rated slots so they're opening it up to new applicants.

That's what I was thinking also. I always hear that they have trouble filling slots like ABM and CSO.

It will be interesting to see if the 300's this yr will boarded for rated in the spring, or will they now board them in the fall as 400's like non-rated.

I know the problem that this action will cause if getting all of the AFROTC cadets through their flight physical and TS clearance in a shorter time span, but I would assume that many AFA cadets are going to be ticked that AFROTC cadets got UPT and they are not getting one due to the numbers were changed.

If they do pull the 400's or convert them to other rated positions, than AFROTC will also be ticked.

Either way cadets are going to be upset.
