If you’re an academy cadet/midshipman who goes through Beast/BCT/Plebe Summer but is unable to join the rest of their class for their 4/C year, are you still able to utilize a AFROTC scholarship at a regular school?

I have USMA in line and I’m just counting down the days until, but I also have a Type 7 AFROTC scholarship available at a school that I would be happy to attend if things don’t go as planned.

I'm no expert but my own thought is that it's unlikely. I know if you had an AROTC scholarship in hand, it would become null and void once you reported to USMA. I assume the same thing would happen to the AFROTC scholarship but I'm not certain.

Assuming you are worried about injury, then I would expect you wouldn't be healed by the time AFROTC started, or they probably would have kept you on at USMA.

Just one man's two cents.

I'm also no expert, but as I understand, no it's not possible to use an AFROTC scholarship post BCT. My understanding is if injured in BCT and unable to complete one can then change over to ROTC if the offer is not yet declined. Of course colleges are going to want deposits that may not be returned for a no-show. Some schools are understanding and willing to be the backup plan. There are many discussions on the forum about this.

You give up your AFROTC scholarship when you accept your appointment to USAFA
